「つぎはぎだらけ」喪失と再生

メガネ屋のHPを15年ほど前に作り、それをアップデートしながら、現在も使っている。昔のシステムにツギハギのように、色々なものを付け足してきてしまっているから、今やゴチャゴチャ。

ふと、すべて０にして、スクラップアンドビルドしたくなる。そう思うものの、結局、新しいサイトがうまく行く可能性もないしと、また昔のシステムに継ぎ足し継ぎ足ししてしまう。

喪失。大切なものや人、家、学校などを失うこと。

再生。失ったものを取り戻し、新たなスタートを切ること。

喪失の後には「再生」がある。喪失があるからこそ、昔の慣習やシステムに縛られず、新たな技術が発展することもある。勿論、喪失と再生のプロセスは、すべてがうまくいくわけではない。けれど、喪失は時に新たな可能性を開く重要な契機。

We created the website for our optician about 15 years ago and are still using it, updating it as we go along. I’ve added so many things to the old system that it’s now a mess.

Suddenly I feel like ripping it all out and building a new site. I think about it, but then I realise that there is no chance of the new site working, so I just keep adding to the old system again.

Loss of an important thing, person, house, school, etc.
Rebirth. To regain what has been lost and start again.

After loss there is ‘regeneration’. Because of loss, new technologies can develop that are not bound by old customs and systems. Of course, not all processes of loss and regeneration work. Sometimes loss is an important opportunity to open up new possibilities.
