無邪気だけど貪欲
グレートジャーニー。日本の探検家・人類学者・外科医であり、1999年植村直己冒険賞、2000年旅の文化賞も受賞されている関野 吉晴さんの講演会に以前伺った際に、メモっておいた言葉が、たまたま出てきた。

ガイドブックの通りだと確認していくだけのような旅はやめろ。
自分に素直にバカがしたい。無邪気だけど貪欲。
自分自身が体験して信じたものだけを発信していきたい。
いつしか好奇心が磨耗して気づきを失ってしまった。
旅をしてもある程度の結果が予想できてしまうようになってしまった。
私は新たな気づきを求めて旅に出た。
若いことに体験した気づきがいまも私を駆り立てる。

無邪気だけど貪欲なんて、なんて素晴らしいだ。そうか、自分もいつまでも無邪気だけど貪欲、そこを目指そう。
