「とにかく絶対ゴール！絶対ゴール！」ウルトラマン完走翌日
今日はアワードディナー。午前中はもう、おじいさんのようんカチカチな体をゆっくり動かし、洗濯やバイクの解体。
ウルトラマンハワイは、参加資格が基本どこかのウルトラマンを完走していること。なので、参加する方すべて強い方々なのだけれど、それでも毎年一定数がDNFになる。それは最初から聞いていたので、常にナーバスだったのだけれど、本当にゴールできてよかった。
とはいえ、今回自分の中には、ゴールできないという選択肢は絶対になかった。なにせ、わざわざ自分のためにカナダから片道30時間もかけて、自費でかけつけてくれているのだ。見ず知らずの自分のサポートにご夫婦できてくれているのに、〇〇だから、〇〇だから、とか何かの理由でゴールできないというのはあり得なかった。
「とにかく絶対ゴール！とにかく絶対ゴール！」それをハワイ着いてから夜寝る前も、朝おきてからも、本番中も常に心の中で唱えていた。
体調が悪いからとか、気候が悪いから、パンクしてしまったから、理由なんて関係ない。「とにかく絶対にゴールを！とにかく絶対ゴールを！」それだけを呪文のように。
良くも悪くも、自分はチャラチャラと毎回実力以上のことに挑戦する傾向にあるけれど、チャラチャラ挑戦するからには、礼儀として絶対ゴールだけはする。そう思って参加している。
今回サポートしてくれたカレンが、この大会に参加、そしてゴールする人は、みんなセルフパニッシャーだと言っていたけれど、わかる気がする。この大会に参加するような人は自分を罰するのが大好きなんだろう。
そう、最終的に3日間のタイムが発表されたのだけれど、とんでもない人が一人いた！トライアスロンとかアイアンマンのレベルに関して、タイムを聞いてもイマイチわからない自分でも、そのすごさがわかる異次元な方！すべての大会記録を更新！！！ニュージーランドのサイモン！！恐るべき！！
エベレストに挑戦している時に6000mでお会いしたキリアンさん級か！！！まじですごい！！他の方とワンランク違う！！なので、アワードディナー終わった途端に、もう１ファンとして、すぐに写真をお願い。
本当にすばらしい思い出になりました。サイモン！！引き続き陰ながら応援してます！！また改めまして、今回大会本番日はもちろん、ハワイ島到着から常にサポートしてくれたRuss & Karen、本当にありがとう！！そして、カヌーで引率してくれたTom!!またこのような素敵な機会を与えてくれた日比野さん！お声がけいただけなければ、こんな素敵な体験できなかったです！！またチームジャパンの皆様、最終日の並走やサポート、本当にありがとうございます！！
世界には異次元な方がたくさんいるものだ！！

Today’s awards ceremony. In the morning, doing laundry and dismantling my bike.
Ultraman Hawaii is only open to those who have completed an Ultraman race. So all the competitors are strong people, but still a certain number of them DNF every year. I had heard that from the beginning, so I was always nervous, but I’m really happy that I made it to the finish line.
However, there was absolutely no way for me to not finish this time. I was a complete stranger and they were there to support me, so there was no way I could not finish the race for any reason.
Anyway, absolutely “finish! Just finish!” I chanted that in my head from the moment I arrived in Hawaii, before I went to bed at night, when I woke up in the morning and during the race itself. “Just finish! Just finish! That’s all I could spell.
For better or worse, I have a tendency to flirt and challenge myself beyond my ability every time, I will definitely finish the race out of courtesy.
Karen, who supported me this time, said that anyone who enters and finishes this event is a self-punisher, and I can understand why. I think the kind of people who do this event like to punish themselves.
Yes, the final times for the three days were announced, there was one person who was outrageous! He broke all the race records! Simon from New Zealand!! The level of Killian, who I met at 6000m when he tried to climb Everest! It was a really wonderful memory. Simon!!!
Thanks again to Russ & Karen for their constant support, not only on the day of the competition, but from the moment I arrived on the Big Island of Hawaii! And Tom for guiding me. Hibino-san for giving me such a wonderful opportunity! I couldn’t have had such a wonderful experience! Also to Team Japan, thank you so much for your support and running on the last day!
