重り生活。15kgの重りジャケットを20kgに？
真夏でも仕事中は常に15kgの重りのジャケットを着て生活している。そして足には6kg。合計21kg。
このような重り生活を始めたのがエベレストを目指し始めた9年前。エベレスト最年長登頂の三浦雄一郎さんが常に20kgの重りを背負って生活されているというのを本で読んでから、徐々に徐々に重りを増やして現在の総重量21kg。
足の重りも、重りのジャケットも常に使っていると衣類のように消耗する。大抵は生地が擦り切れて中の鉄の重りがでてきてしまう。なので、1年か1年半ごとに買い替える。

こちらもすごく重宝したのだけれど、中の重りが出てきてしまったので、今回買い替え。ここで迷ったのが重量。現在15kgなのだけれど、20kgもある。5kgの違いだけでもだいぶ違う。
なにが違うって勿論重さもなのだけれど、重さはある程度つけていれば慣れるから良いのだけれど、じつは最もつらいのが暑さだ。鉄の分量が多くなるともう暑くなる。真夏に鉄の塊を20kgしょってると、重さより暑さが地獄。で、汗が半端ない。自分は接客業なのに常に汗だく。普通はありえない。
うーん、うーんんと散々迷った結果、今回の買い替えは据え置きで15kgに。20kgにすると総重量26kg。1年半後の買い替えときは、もう暑さも我慢して、ベストも20kgにバージョンアップしよう。

Living with weights.
At work, even in the middle of summer, I live in a jacket that weighs 15 kg. And 6 kg on my legs; 21 kg in total.
I started this kind of weighted lifestyle nine years ago, when I set my sights on Mount Everest. After reading in a book that Yuichiro Miura, the oldest person to reach the summit of Mount Everest, always carried 20kg of weights on his back.
Both the leg weights and the weighted jacket wear out like clothing after constant use. In most cases, the fabric wears out and the steel weights inside come out. So they are replaced every year .
The jacket I’m using now is this AIFY.
It’s been very useful too, but the weight inside has come out, so I’m replacing it this time. It currently weighs 15kg, but it has also weighs 20kg, so even a difference of 5kg makes a big difference.
What is different is the weight of course, but the weight is good because you get used to it when you carry it , but actually the hardest thing is the heat. The more iron there is, the hotter it gets. In the middle of summer, when you are carrying 20 kilos of iron, the heat is worse than the weight. And I sweat a lot.
After a lot of thought, I decided to keep the weight at 15 kilos and increase it to 20 kilos, which would give me a total weight of 26 kilos.Next time I buy a new jacket, I’ll get a 20kg jacket.
