Netflixで、スペースXを使ったジャレッド・アイザックマン氏が募集した初めての民間人だけの軌道宇宙旅行のドキュメンタリーを見た。
ジャレッド・アイザックマン氏のこの企画。まさに募集の時期から打ち上げまでリアルタイムでも動向を見守っていたけれどドキュメンターだと当時の状況がやはりよくわかる。
これはNetflixの番組の作り方なのかわからないけれど、シリーズを通して見終わった際の率直な感想は、やっぱり宇宙旅行と職業としての宇宙飛行士は違う、そして宇宙は、良くも悪くも、ただのあまり人が行っていない旅行先の１つになりつつある。そんな感じの印象だ。
宇宙を必死に目指している自分から見ても、もう600人ほどの人々にいかれている宇宙は、もしかすると宇宙に特別興味のない人たちから見たら、今や、特別なことじゃないのかもしれない。
やっぱり、人類は火星など人類がまだ到達したことのない地点に到達することによってこそ、新たなエクスタシィを体験するのかもしれない。

‘Inspiration 4’ – Private Persons-Only Space Travel
I watched a documentary on Netflix about the first civilian-only orbital space trip recruited by Jared Isaacman with SpaceX.
This project by Jared Isaacman. I was following the project in real time from the time of the recruitment to the launch,and it was wonderful to learn about parts of the project that I normally wouldn’t know about from a documentarian.
I don’t know if this is the way Netflix makes their programs, but my honest impression after watching the series is that space travel is different from being an astronaut as a career, and that space is becoming just one of those destinations that not many people go to, for better or worse.
From my own perspective as someone who is desperately trying to go to space, space, which has already been visited by about 600 people, may not be so special anymore from the point of view of strangers.

After all, human beings will probably experience a new ecstasy by reaching Mars or some other point where human beings have not yet reached.
