The Power of Steady Effort

Makoto Optical has been serving customers in Shinjuku and Ginza for 17 years now.
Updating our website has always felt like part of the daily routine, almost automatic. But when I took a step back recently, I realized something: we’ve shared over 5,000 customer photos and stories, and received more than 2,000 reviews.
That’s something I feel deeply grateful for.

What strikes me is that none of this came from flashy events or one-time campaigns. It’s simply the result of steady, everyday effort—small steps repeated over time.

When people talk about attracting customers, the focus is often on how to gather a large crowd all at once. But I’ve come to believe that what really matters is the ability to keep building little by little, no matter the circumstances. Not by pushing too hard, but by creating systems that naturally keep moving forward. That’s what truly leads to results.

In business, continuity is everything. It isn’t a single big success that sustains a shop—it’s what has been built up over time. Those layers of effort become the foundation that supports both the business and the person behind it.

To “keep going,” it’s important to stay natural and not overstrain. When there’s a system that allows things to keep stacking up almost without noticing, that’s what makes it possible to continue for the long run.

Don’t push too hard, but don’t cut corners either.
As long as I carry a sense of gratitude, I hope to keep building steadily, in a way that feels natural.

And most of all, I hope to continue building relationships with our customers—relationships that last because they’re effortless, genuine, and sustained.
That, to me, would be the greatest reward of all.
