Stucktopia スタックトピア的な生活
最近、テレビやアニメでよく見るテーマに「スタックトピア」というものがある。これは「stuck（行き詰まる）」と「utopia（理想郷）」を組み合わせた言葉で、登場人物たちが困難な状況から抜け出せず、同じことを繰り返してしまう世界をさしている。
スタックトピア的な映画やアニメも昔からたくさん。
古いところでは、『12モンキーズ』（12 Monkeys）
未来の人類を絶滅させたウイルスの発生を防ぐために、タイムトラベラーが過去に送り込まれる。 繰り返される時間旅行と失敗、避けられない運命に直面するキャラクター。
日本のアニメだと、『Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活』
主人公のスバルが異世界で死ぬたびに特定の時間に戻る「リセット」を繰り返す。何度も同じ時間を繰り返す中で、スバルは次第に困難を乗り越え、状況を改善しようと努力する。
など。
自分たちの人生も、気を抜くと、まるで同じ日を何度も繰り返しているようなスタックトピア的な生活になってしまう。新しいことに挑戦できなかったり、変化を求めてもなかなか実現できなかったり。
ちなみに、2024年のアメリカの大統領選挙でも、トランプ氏とバイデン氏という同じ候補者が再び争うことになり、これも新しい変化がなく、スタックトピア的と言われている。
スタックトピアが生まれる背景には、人々の不安や閉塞感があるという。やっぱり、人はいくつになっても、新しいことに挑戦したり、小さな変化を楽しむ努力はいつまでも必要なのだ。同じような日々にがんじがらめになってしまったら、なんとか、無理してでもちょっとした冒険を！！

Stucktopia is a theme often seen in television and animation these days. It is a combination of the words ‘stuck’ and ‘utopia’ and refers to a world where characters are stuck in difficult situations, doing the same thing over and over again.
There have been many stacktopian films and animations for a long time. One of the older ones, for example, is 12 Monkeys. In this film, time travellers are sent back in time to prevent the outbreak of a virus that has wiped out the human race in the future. The characters face repeated time travel, failure and inevitable doom.
In Japanese anime, Re: Zero kara Hajimari no Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Zero kara Hajimari no Isekai Seikatsu) is a prime example. Every time the protagonist Subaru dies in another world, he ‘resets’ himself to a certain point in time. By repeating the same time over and over again, Subaru gradually overcomes difficulties and tries to improve his situation.
Our lives too, if we are not careful, can become like repeating the same day over and over again.
Incidentally, the same candidates, Trump and Biden, will run again in the 2024 US presidential election, which is also said to be Stacktopian, with no new changes.
Behind the creation of Stacktopia is people’s sense of insecurity and stagnation. No matter how old people get, they will always have to make an effort to try new things and enjoy small changes. If you get tired of the same old thing, it might be a good idea to try a little adventure.
