ちょっとした感覚の差。
昨晩は、マカオ人の友人を紹介してもらった。
小さいときから、日本のアニメとゲームが好きで、このまま日本語を使わないで人生終わると後悔すると、29歳で日本に留学し1年札幌で仕事をしていたらしい。日本語を使える人生にトライすることができて本当によかったと嬉しそうに語っている姿がとても印象的だった。
日本と関わる仕事を、まるでメジャーリーグに挑んだ時のように嬉しそうに語るマカオ人の友人。なんだかこちらがとっても嬉しくなったし、自分もやはり何か世界の枠を超えてやりたいと思わせてくれた。
友人によると、現在、エンタメでは、日本より圧倒的に韓国のほうが人気だけれど、物に関しては、いまだに日本のものも人気のよう。特に香港とマカオでは。そんなマカオに日本のなかなかのブランドを揃えたメガネ屋を教えてもらった。
日本のメガネブランドのアジア代理店もやっているらしく、中国やアジアの展示会に出展して販路を拡大しているようだ。うちは以前あるデンマークのブランドの代理店になったけれど、あまり売れなかった。やはりその時、アジア中を回って売り込みするぐらいの気合が足りなかったからだろう。
今回、日本円の弱さに改めて驚愕。日本は、どんどん弱くなっていると多くの方が言っているけれど、これは事実なんだなあ。
ただ、観光はぜったいに日本はいいから、観光をしっかり整備し、アジアの人々を呼び込んだ方が良いとキラキラと目を輝かせて語る友人。
マカオは3年ほどいってなかっただけだけれど、以前行っていた街でも、実際に行ってみないとわからないことは、確実にあるようだ。
自分の好きな映画「インターステラ」で、時が経つのが以上に遅い惑星ミラーから帰ってきたら、宇宙船に残ったクルーとの年齢差が23年ほど開いていたというシーンがあった。
実際同じ地球上では、映画インターステラのように時間の進み方が変わることはないので、年齢の差が広がることはないけれど、感覚だけで言えば、ある国とある国の間で、数年の差というのは、起こるえるのかもしれない。
今一度、自分の本業について、これからの自分の振る舞いについて、大きな視野で見直そう。

Last night I was introduced to a Macanese friend.
He has loved Japanese anime and games since he was a little and said he would have regretted ending his life without using Japanese, so at the age of 29 he went to Japan to study and worked in Sapporo for a year. I was very impressed by the way he said happily that he was very happy to have tried a life he could use Japanese.
A Macanese friend of mine talks about his work with Japan. It made me very happy and made me want to do something beyond the borders of the world.
According to my friend, Korea is now far more popular than Japan in terms of entertainment, but Japanese goods are still popular, especially in Hong Kong and Macau. I was told about a spectacle shop in Macau that has a good selection of Japanese brands.
It seems that the shop also acts as an Asian distributor for Japanese eyewear brands, expanding its sales channels by exhibiting at exhibitions in China and other Asian countries. We used to distribute a Danish brand, but it didn’t sell very well. This was probably because we were not enthusiastic enough to travel around Asia to promote the brand.
This time I was again surprised by the weakness of the Japanese yen. A lot of people say that Japan is getting weaker and weaker, and that is true.
However, my friend says that Japan is definitely good for tourism and that it is better to improve tourism and attract people from Asia.
I haven’t been to Macau for three years, there are definitely things don’t understand until I’ve been there.
In my favourite film, Interstellar, there was a scene where the crew of the spaceship had an age difference of 23 years with the rest of the crew when they returned from the planet Mirror, where time passes much more slowly.
In fact, on the same planet, time does not change as it does in the film Interstella, so the age gap does not widen, but just from a sensory point of view, a difference of a few years between one country and another could happen.
Once again, let’s look at my core business and how I will behave in the future from a larger perspective.
