When a child walks for the first time, he or she is praised, but the next time, it is taken for granted and no praise is given.
This happens everywhere in life, in work and in personal life. Of course, some of these compliments come from others, but the biggest one comes from oneself.
Once you have experienced something, your brain will not praise you for it the next time. It will stop producing dopamine.
Change is usually stressful. It is easier to do the same thing yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
I don’t know if it’s because of DNA or what, but organisms that have to change in order to survive and reproduce have rewards that make it impossible for them not to want something new and different.
Once we taste these rewards, we become addicted to them, but since they do not have that much staying power, we are gravitationally drawn back to the easier way of life, the way of life that does not change.
It’s like gravity sucking us in.
