ChatGPT。
Gemini。
Grok。
Claude。
Siri。
Muse。

Siri Got Smarter. But Gemini Is Still Ahead. And Now There’s Muse.

Today, October 26th, a new beta version of Siri became available for Apple Watch.

I installed it right away and tried it on both the Apple Watch and iPhone.

Compared to before, it really has gotten quite a bit smarter. The old Siri would often get lost when you asked anything slightly complicated, or it would just pull up a search result and leave it at that. This time, it actually tries to hold a conversation.

That said, my honest impression is that Gemini on the Pixel Watch still feels a bit sharper. Understanding what you’re asking, keeping a conversation going — Gemini feels a little more natural for both. It’s still beta, and I suppose it depends on how you use it.

Then on October 23rd, Meta’s Muse appeared.

This one isn’t just an AI that answers questions. I’ll write more about it tomorrow, but it’s in the agent category. The idea is an AI that understands you personally, operates your computer and apps, and actually moves tasks forward on your behalf. Meta already has AI glasses. Muse is apparently meant to become the central AI inside them, going forward.

If that happens, the point of contact with AI shifts from a watch to a pair of glasses.

ChatGPT.
Gemini.
Grok.
Claude.
Siri.
Muse.

And on top of that, AI agents that take the initiative and move work along on their own have been multiplying lately.

It’s getting hard to keep track of it all.

I use AI quite a bit every day. Even so, with new things appearing one after another, following all of it takes real effort.

Which AI is the smartest — yes, that matters. But lately I’ve been feeling like that’s not the whole picture.

No matter how smart ChatGPT is, if every use means taking out your phone, opening an app, and explaining yourself from scratch, it’s a bit of a hassle. With a watch, you just speak toward your wrist. With glasses, you can ask about whatever is right in front of you. With an AI agent, it doesn’t just answer your question — it handles the work that comes after.

How smart an AI is matters, but so does how naturally it fits into everyday life. That second part has started to feel just as important.

What I’ve especially wanted to do lately is keep a running record of daily things.

Conversations with customers at the shop. Notes on newly arrived frames. A blog idea that came to mind. Things I need to get done today.

I’d like to save all of that just by talking to my watch, without having to reach for my phone or open my laptop. And if an AI could organize those notes and make them useful later, that would be ideal.

The Pixel Watch has a feature that transcribes recorded audio into text. The Apple Watch keeps pushing Siri and its AI capabilities forward. With Meta’s AI glasses, there’s even the possibility of turning what you’re actually looking at into information.

I think the competition isn’t just about AI intelligence anymore — it’s also about the devices that connect AI to people.

Will it be a watch?
Glasses?
A smartphone?
Or something else entirely?

Not long ago, I thought it was already convenient just to ask Siri about the weather or set a timer. Now I’m comparing how natural different AIs feel in conversation, thinking things like “Gemini still seems a bit smarter.” And meanwhile, right alongside that, AI has started operating computers on its own.

Compared to just a few years ago, the change is remarkable. Though it’s probably still just the beginning.

Right now I’m going back and forth between the Apple Watch and the Pixel Watch, trying to decide which one to keep. But even as I do that, another new AI comes out.

Even if you pick the smartest AI available, a different one might be smarter next month. In that case, the only real question is what works best in your life right now — and you just have to try things and find out.

I was pleased that Siri had gotten smarter, and then there was Gemini, and then Muse arrived, and ChatGPT keeps changing too.

Something that felt surprising a month ago gets overturned almost immediately. It really has become quite a time to be alive.

I can’t quite keep up with it all — but there’s something genuinely interesting about being around to try things out in an era like this.
