一通のメールが届いた。

件名は
「センチュリオン・カード 限定入会招待のお知らせ（Centurion Card Exclusive Invitation Notice）」。

センチュリオン・カード？
調べてみると、アメックスの最高級カードらしい。

入会金55万円、年会費55万円とも言われる、いわゆる「カード界の頂点」。

いまやブラックカードも、こんなカジュアルなメールで案内するようになったのか。
そう思って、少しだけ調べてみた。

「アメックス、一枚も持ってないのに……？」

ここで違和感が出てきたので、メールヘッダーを確認する。

そこで出てきた一行。

見た目は「American Express」。
でも中身は、まったく関係ないドメイン。

この時点で、ほぼ確定だ。

おかしいポイントは、シンプルに三つある。

まず、送信元ドメイン。

本物のアメックスが使うのは、
@americanexpress.com や @aexp.jp といった公式ドメイン。

今回のメールは、post@zoukei.net

この時点でアウト。

次に、招待の手段が軽すぎる。

センチュリオンの招待は通常、重厚な箱入りの郵便物で届くと言われている。

高級感のある箱、専用の書状、
演出も含めた「体験」としてのインビテーション。

それがメール一本で「こちらからお申し込みください」というスタイル。

どう考えても文脈が合わない。

そして一番の決定打。

自分は以前アメックスを使っていた時期はあるけれど、
ここ10年ほど一枚も持っていない。

センチュリオンのインビテーションは、

プラチナカードでの多額の利用実績
長期間の取引関係

そういった前提をクリアしたごく一部にだけ届くもの。

それをすべて飛ばして、いきなり最上位がメールで届く。

これはもう、設定として成立していない。

この手のメールが厄介なのは、リンク先が本物そっくりに作られていること。

そこでカード番号や氏名、住所、パスワードを入力してしまうと、

不正決済
なりすましログイン
情報の売買

といった形で使われてしまう。

特に「メールアドレス＋普段使っているパスワード」は危ない。
他のサービスにも波及する。

今回のメールは、正直なところ少し雑だった。

でも、こういうものは数をばらまけば、一定数は引っかかる。

そういう前提で作られているのかもしれない。

本物のセンチュリオンは、初年度だけで約110万円かかると言われている。

プラチナカードなどはだいぶ入りやすくなった印象があったので、
ブラックカードもサクッといける時代になったのかと思ったら、まだ違った。

こういうものを見ると、人はいい方向にも悪い方向にも、同じくらい頭を使うんだなと思う。

Phishing Scam: “American Express Centurion Invitation” Email

I received an email.

The subject line read:
“Centurion Card Exclusive Invitation Notice.”

Centurion Card?

I looked it up.
It’s apparently American Express’s highest-tier card.

An initiation fee of around 550,000 yen and an annual fee of another 550,000 yen.
Basically, the “top of the credit card world.”

I thought, for a moment—
have things changed that much?

Are black cards now being offered this casually, by email?

So I looked into it a bit more.

“But I don’t even have an Amex card…”

That’s when the feeling started to shift.

I checked the email header.

There it was.

It looked like “American Express.”
But the actual domain had nothing to do with them.

At that point, it was pretty much confirmed.

There were three clear issues.

First, the sender’s domain.

Real American Express emails come from
@americanexpress.com or @aexp.jp.

This one came from
post@zoukei.net

That alone was enough.

Second, the method of invitation.

Centurion invitations are usually said to arrive
in a heavy, carefully designed package.

A box.
Printed materials.
A sense of ceremony.

This one was just a simple email saying,
“Apply here.”

It didn’t match the brand at all.

And the final point.

I used to have an Amex card,
but I haven’t used one in about ten years.

Centurion invitations are typically extended only to a very small group of people—
those with Platinum cards,
significant spending history,
and long-term relationships.

Skipping all of that and jumping straight to the top tier, via email,
just doesn’t make sense.

The tricky part about emails like this
is how convincing the destination page can be.

If you follow the link and enter your information—
card number,
address,
password—

that data can be used for fraudulent transactions,
account takeovers,
or even sold on the dark web.

Especially the combination of email address and a commonly used password.
That can spread into other services very quickly.

To be honest, this one felt a bit rough.

But these kinds of scams don’t need to be perfect.

If you send enough of them,
some will work.

That’s the idea.

A real Centurion card is said to cost around 1.1 million yen in the first year alone.

Platinum cards have become more accessible over time,
so for a moment I wondered if black cards had become easier too.

Apparently not.

Seeing something like this reminds me
that people use the same level of thought and creativity—
for both good and bad.

I should be careful.
