来年、高校生になる娘の進学準備で、
「高専専門ナレッジスター」というWEB教材にとてもお世話になった。

校舎は仙台あたりにあるらしいけれど、
授業はすべてオンライン。
時間もペースも、娘の都合に合わせて進められる。

「すごい時代になったな」と、素直に思った。

ふと思い出して、以前自分用に入れていたスタディサプリを、
あらためて娘たちのために契約し直した。

久しぶりに中を覗いて、また驚いた。

小学1年生の内容までさかのぼれるし、
その気になれば、高校や大学レベルの物理まで先取りできる。

苦手なところは戻り、
得意なところは先へ進む。

「学年」という区切りが、ほとんど意味を持たなくなっている。

昔は、

・どこの塾に行くか
・どの先生に当たるか
・通える距離かどうか

そうした条件で、学びの質が決まっていた。

でも今は違う。

ネット環境さえあれば、
地方も都会も関係ない。
時間帯も、年齢も、順番も関係ない。

さらに、ここにAIが加わる。

わからないところを、何度でも聞ける。
怒られない。
待たされない。
「なんで分からないの？」とも言われない。

苦手なところには過去へ、
得意なところには未来へ。

机の上に、学習用のタイムマシンが置かれたような感覚だ。

これはもう、
自分たちが育ってきた頃の「勉強の風景」とは、まったく別物だ。

もちろん、
これで全てがうまくいくわけじゃない。

やるかどうかは本人次第だし、
画面を開くだけで身につくほど、勉強は甘くない。

それでも、

「環境の差」で諦める時代は、
確実に終わりつつある。

どこにいても、昔と比べてずっと現実的な価格で、
必要な学びのほとんどが手に入る。

学びたいと思った瞬間に、
必要なところから、必要な分だけ、
自分のペースで始められる。

それが、もう特別なことではなくなってきた。

うちには子どもが4人いる。

得意なことも、苦手なことも、ペースも、それぞれ違う。

昔なら「みんな同じ教室で、同じ速度で」が前提だった。
でも今は、一人ひとりに合わせた学び方ができる環境がある。

親としてできることは、
この環境を用意することくらいだ。

あとは、本人がどう使うか。

どんなに良い教材があっても、
開かなければ学べない。

道具は可能性を広げる。
でも、可能性を現実にするのは、本人の意志だ。

便利になった分、
「やるか、やらないか」の差は、
以前よりもはっきり出る時代なのかもしれない。

そしてきっと、
この「すごさ」も、
やがて当たり前になっていくのだろう。

Knowledge Star and Study Sapuri:
When “where you study” is no longer what matters

As my daughter prepares to enter high school next year,
we relied heavily on an online learning program called Kōsen Senmon Knowledge Star.

I hadn’t expected quite this much.

Their campus is apparently somewhere around Sendai,
but all the classes are online.
She can study at her own pace, on her own schedule.

It honestly made me think,
we’re really living in a different era now.

That reminded me of Study Sapuri, which I once used myself,
so I signed it up again—this time for my daughters.

When I looked through it after a long time, I was surprised all over again.

You can go all the way back to first-grade material,
or, if you want, jump ahead to high school or even university-level physics.

You can return to what you don’t understand,
and move forward quickly through what you do.

The idea of “grade level” starts to feel almost meaningless.

In the past, learning depended heavily on things like:

• which cram school you went to
• which teacher you happened to get
• whether the school was close enough to attend

Those conditions shaped the quality of education.

But now, that’s no longer the case.

With an internet connection,
it doesn’t matter whether you live in the city or the countryside.
Time of day, age, or order no longer matter much either.

And now AI has entered the picture.

You can ask the same question as many times as you need.
No one gets annoyed.
No one makes you wait.
No one says, “Why don’t you understand this?”

You can go back to basic arithmetic,
or jump ahead into advanced physics.

For weak points, you move into the past.
For strengths, you move into the future.

It feels like having a learning time machine sitting on your desk.

This is completely different from the “study landscape” we grew up with.

Of course, none of this guarantees success.

Whether learning actually happens still depends on the student,
and simply opening a screen doesn’t make knowledge sink in.

Even so,

the era of giving up because of “environmental differences”
is clearly coming to an end.

Compared to the past,
almost everything you need to learn is now accessible
at a very realistic cost, no matter where you live.

When you want to learn,
you can start exactly where you need to,
at your own pace.

That’s no longer something special.

We have four children.

Each of them has different strengths, weaknesses, and learning speeds.

In the past, education assumed
“everyone in the same classroom, moving at the same speed.”

Now, environments exist that can adapt to each individual.

That feels genuinely remarkable.

As a parent,
the most I can do is make that environment available.

What happens after that
is up to them.

No matter how good the tools are,
nothing happens if you don’t open them.

Tools expand possibilities,
but turning possibility into reality still requires intention.

Because things are easier,
the difference between “doing it” and “not doing it”
may stand out more sharply than ever.

We really are living in an extraordinary time.

And soon enough,
even this “extraordinary” situation
will probably feel completely normal.
