「貯金が○○万円たまったら旅に出る」ではなく、「Uber Eats」をしながら旅

先日、街で興味深いバイクを見かけた。

荷台にはキャンプ道具のツーリング仕様。

けれど、背負っているのは「Uber Eats」のバッグだ。

なるほど、と思った。

彼は、旅と仕事を「並列」で回しているのだ。

私の若い頃は、完全に「直列」だった。

一気にバイトをして、金を貯める。

その金を持って旅に出て、使い果たしたら帰ってきて、また働く。

「非日常」を買うために、「日常」を切り売りしていた感覚だ。

でも、彼らは違う。

移動しながら稼ぎ、稼ぎながら移動する。

「定年後に旅をしたい」

「貯金がこれだけ溜まったら」

そんな従来のセオリーを、軽々と飛び越えている。

働くことが、そのまま移動の資金づくりになるなら、

理屈の上では、旅を終わらせる必要がない。

止まらなくていいのだ。

「生き方って、工夫次第でこんなに変えられるんだな」

私たちはつい、働き方を型にはめて考えてしまう。

でも、本当はもっと自由でいいし、もっとズルいくらいに工夫していい。

「働く」と「生きる」を、どれくらい重ねられているだろうか。

47歳。まだまだ世界は更新できるのだ。

“Travel once I’ve saved enough” is becoming “Travel while doing Uber Eats”

The other day, I saw an interesting motorcycle on the street.

The back seat was packed with camping gear, clearly set up for a long touring trip.

But what he was carrying on his back was an Uber Eats backpack.

And it clicked.

He wasn’t separating travel and work — he was running them in parallel.

When I was younger, my life was completely serial.
Work intensely, save money, go travel.
Run out of money, come home, work again.
It felt like I was cutting pieces of “everyday life” to buy a bit of “extraordinary life.”

But these travelers are different.

They move while earning, and earn while moving.

“I want to travel after I retire.”
“I’ll go once I’ve saved enough.”
Those old rules simply don’t apply to them.

If working itself becomes the fuel for the journey,
then theoretically, the journey never has to end.

You don’t have to stop.

It made me realize:

Our ways of living can change this much — if we let them.

We tend to force “work” into a rigid shape.
But the truth is, it can be much freer, and we’re allowed to be a lot more inventive — even sneaky — about how we design our life.
