今日は、7年ぶりに深圳へ。
思えば、最後に来たのはまだコロナ前だった気がする。

前回は香港の市内から深圳に入ったので気づかなかったけれど、
今回あらためて驚いたのは、アクセスの便利さだった。
マカオと同じように、香港空港に着いてから出国せずにフェリーに乗れば、
そのまま蛇口（Shekou）まで直通で行ける。

このルートが本当に快適。
蛇口は市内からはやや離れているものの、入国審査もほとんど待ち時間ゼロ。
もともと17時ごろ着く予定だったのが、
気づけば昼の12時にはホテルにチェックインしていた。

そのおかげで、翌日の予定だった2社のうち1社、
メガネの工場を今日のうちに訪問できた。
久しぶりに現場の空気を感じながら、
「ああ、このスピード感はやっぱり深圳だな」と思った。

時間を“前倒しで使えた”感覚。
これだけでも、旅の充実度がまるで違う。

ただ、一つ困ったこともあった。

アリペイが、途中から突然使えなくなったのだ。
どうやらセキュリティ上の理由で、一日の限度額が設定されているらしい。

現金はゼロ。
ウィーチャットペイもあるにはあるけれど、なぜかうまく動かない。
アリペイが止まると、まるで呼吸が止まるような感覚になる。
支払いができない中国では、本当に「何もできない」。

幸いクレジットカードがあるので最悪の事態は避けられたけれど、
あらためて今の中国では
「スマホ＝財布」だということを実感した。

そして夜。
工場の方々が、とても豪華な中華をごちそうしてくださった。
円卓の上に次々と並ぶ料理はどれも繊細で、手間がかかっていて、
一皿ごとに「歓迎」の気持ちがこもっていた。

食事のあとには、ホテルまで車で送っていただいてしまった。
その丁寧な心づかいに、思わず胸が温かくなった。

いつも思うけれど、本当に中国の方はあたたかい。
距離を越えて、こうして迎えてくださることのありがたさを、あらためて感じた。

早く着けて、仕事も進んで、
最後は人のやさしさで締めくくられた一日。

Direct Ferry from Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen (Shekou) — Surprisingly Convenient

Today, I visited Shenzhen for the first time in seven years.
Thinking back, the last time I came here must have been before the pandemic.

On my previous trips, I entered Shenzhen from downtown Hong Kong, so I never realized how convenient this route could be.
Just like Macau, if you arrive at Hong Kong International Airport, you can take a ferry directly to Shekou without going through immigration.

And honestly — it’s incredibly smooth.
Although Shekou is a little farther from the city center, immigration was almost nonexistent.
I had expected to arrive around 5 p.m., but to my surprise, I was already checked into my hotel by noon.

Because of that, I was able to visit one of the two factories I had planned to see tomorrow.
Stepping into the workshop again after so long, I immediately thought,
“Ah, this speed and energy — it really is Shenzhen.”

That sense of being able to use time ahead of schedule — it changes the entire rhythm of the trip.

But there was one little problem.

Alipay suddenly stopped working partway through the day.
Apparently, there’s a daily limit for security reasons.

I had no cash, and although I also have WeChat Pay, it didn’t work properly this time.
When Alipay stops, it feels as if your entire system shuts down — because in China, if you can’t pay, you really can’t do anything.

Fortunately, I had a credit card as a backup, so it wasn’t a disaster.
Still, I was reminded once again that in today’s China,
your smartphone truly is your wallet.

In the evening, the factory team kindly treated me to an incredibly elegant Chinese dinner.
Dish after dish appeared on the round table — each one detailed, delicate, and full of care.
Every plate carried a quiet sense of welcome.

After dinner, they even drove me back to my hotel.
That kind of warm hospitality always touches me.

Every time I come to China, I’m reminded how genuinely kind people are here.
There’s a warmth in the way they receive guests — something that crosses any distance.

Arriving earlier than planned, finishing work ahead of schedule,
and ending the day surrounded by kindness —
it was the perfect way to begin this Shenzhen trip.
