Bangkok Arrival Journal – Life Lessons and the Beginning of a Journey
Just arrived in Bangkok. The humid heat hit me as soon as I stepped out of the airport, though it doesn’t seem as oppressive as Japan – perhaps there’s less humidity here. The city has clearly developed and become much more convenient, but the bustling energy of the people remains as powerful as ever.
I was walking along feeling good when suddenly I got caught in a downpour. “Oh no! This is the worst!” I thought at first. But then I remembered this quote:
“The optimist sees the bagel; the pessimist sees the hole.”
Thanks to the rain, the heat subsided, and the sunset reflecting on the river surface became even more beautiful.
You could see the sudden downpour, the intense traffic jams, and the city’s chaos as “the hole.” But you could also see the post-rain air, the overwhelming energy swirling within it, and the smiles of people working at street stalls as “the bagel.”
Which one you choose to see is entirely up to you. Since I’m here, I might as well savor this city’s delicious “bagel.”
