皆さん、こんにちは！新宿と銀座で誠眼鏡店をやってます、誠です。

昨日のブログでもとりあげさせていただいた「登山とアイウェア」自分がエベレストに登ったのは、死ぬまでに一度は行こうって決めていたから。それだけなんです。

何かすごい記録を残したいとか、高所登山のプロになりたいとか、そんな大それた理由はなかったんです。ただ、「どうせなら一番高い山に行ってみたい」という好奇心。

そして次は宇宙！宇宙から地球を見下ろせば、あのエベレストがどこにあるか一目瞭然。せっかくなら宇宙と地上の最高峰、両方を体験したい。単純に、その方が面白そう。

メガネが好きな理由は”イメージチェンジの速さ”

登山でも、メガネだけは遊べる

エベレストみたいな過酷な場所だと、防寒着や登山靴は機能性が最優先。自由にオシャレなんてできません。でも、メガネは別。あえて街っぽいフレームや、少し派手な色を選んでみる。すると、下半身はガチガチの登山装備なのに、顔だけ都会的な雰囲気になったりして、そのギャップが楽しい。仲間からも「そのメガネ、山で浮いてるね！」って笑いのネタになるけど、それがまた会話のきっかけになるんです。

校則が厳しい学生が、学ランの中でメガネの形や色で個性を出す感覚と一緒。どんな状況でも、メガネひとつで自分らしさを出せる。それが私にとってのメガネの魅力です。

自由な視点が広がる”メガネの楽しみ方”

「専門ギア」ばかりが正解ではない

アウトドアシーンでは専用のスポーツサングラスや機能的なフレームを選ぶのが一般的ですが、私は「街用のメガネだって工夫次第で十分使えるし、むしろそれが面白い」と思います。山＝スポーツサングラスというイメージを外してみると、メガネ選びがもっと自由になります。安全面や紫外線対策はもちろん考慮しますが、たとえば調光レンズを組み合わせるだけで、街メガネも立派なアウトドアアイウェアになります。

“自分の好き”を掛ける楽しさ

「結局、メガネは”自分らしさ”を表現するアイテム。それがファッション面だけでなく、心の持ち方にも影響すると思うんです。『こうしなきゃいけない』というルールよりも、『自分が好きなスタイルで楽しむ』という気持ちを大事にしてほしいです。

視点が変わると世界が変わる——次なる高みへ

新宿や銀座のど真ん中でメガネ店を営みながら、世界最高峰へも足を運び、次は宇宙を夢見る私。その行動力の源は「やってみたいからやる」という単純明快な思い。「視点を変えれば、世界は一気に面白くなる。メガネも同じで、フレームひとつ選ぶだけで気分がガラッと変わる。そんな自由な発想を、皆さんにも味わってもらえたら嬉しいです」

「メガネで遊ぶ」2025年3月23日（日）に滝野川フレイムスでイベントを開催します！

タイトルは「めがね人格 〜新たな私の発見〜」。メガネを通じて、新しい自分に出会う一日です。

今回は、台湾で人気のクラシコブランドのトランクショーを特別開催。日本未入荷の170本ものアイウェアが揃います。クラシックなフレームで落ち着いた自分を、アバンギャルドなデザインで大胆な自分を、最新ガジェット眼鏡で未来の自分を——いろんな視点で遊んでみませんか？

私、誠と、メガネ愛好家の鳥居氏が、トークや座談会でみなさんをお迎えします。気軽にメガネを試して、「これをかけたらどんな気分？」って一緒に楽しみたい。ぜひ遊びに来てください！

Playing with Glasses: From Everest to Space

Hello everyone! I’m Makoto, running Makoto Eyewear stores in Shinjuku and Ginza.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog about “Mountaineering and Eyewear,” I climbed Everest simply because I had decided to do it once before I die. That’s all.

I didn’t have any grand reason like setting a remarkable record or becoming a professional high-altitude climber. Just the curiosity of “if I’m going to climb a mountain, why not the highest one?”

And next is space! Looking down at Earth from space, you can immediately spot where Everest is. If I have the chance to experience both the highest point on Earth and space itself – well, that just sounds more interesting.

Why I Love Glasses: The Speed of Image Change

Even While Mountaineering, You Can Play with Glasses

In extreme environments like Everest, thermal wear and climbing boots must prioritize functionality. There’s no freedom for fashion. But glasses are different. I deliberately choose frames meant for city life or slightly flashy colors. The contrast is fun – my lower body in serious climbing gear while my face maintains an urban vibe. My companions laugh saying, “Those glasses look so out of place on the mountain!” But that becomes a conversation starter.

It’s similar to how students with strict uniform codes express individuality through the shape and color of their glasses. In any situation, a single pair of glasses can express your personality. That’s what makes glasses so appealing to me.

The Joy of a Free Perspective Through Glasses

“Specialized Gear” Isn’t Always the Answer

In outdoor settings, people typically choose specialized sports sunglasses or functional frames, but I believe “everyday glasses can work perfectly fine with some adjustments, and that’s what makes it interesting.” When you break free from the “mountains = sports sunglasses” mindset, choosing glasses becomes more liberating. Of course, safety and UV protection are essential, but by simply combining photochromic lenses with regular frames, your everyday glasses become excellent outdoor eyewear.

“Ultimately, glasses are items that express your true self. I think they affect not just your fashion but also your mindset. I hope people value the feeling of ‘enjoying their own style’ rather than following rules like ‘this is what you must do.'”

When Your Perspective Changes, the World Changes—On to New Heights

While running eyewear stores in the heart of Shinjuku and Ginza, I’ve climbed the world’s highest peak and now dream of going to space. My driving force is the simple thought of “doing what I want to do.” “When you change your perspective, the world instantly becomes more interesting. Glasses work the same way – changing just one frame can completely transform your mood. I hope everyone can experience this kind of free thinking.”

Someday I want to go to space, look for Everest from up there, and think, “Ah, there’s the mountain I climbed!” That’s my idea of romance. If there’s something you want to try, I encourage you to take that first step. Whether it’s clothes or glasses, just changing your perspective a little can expand your world more easily than you might think.
