本日ヴェニス。今や旅もチャットGPTなしでは動けないっ！AIのおかげで「リアル」が益々楽しい！

本日は朝にミラノからヴェニスへ移動。実は学生時代に一人バックパックで来たことがあったんだけど、そのときは「ただの観光都市」というイメージしかなかった。でも実際に訪れてみると、やっぱりこの街は雰囲気が独特で、ものすごく素晴らしい。今回は娘と一緒なので、ちゃんと観光してみようと思ってまず足を運んだのが、サンマルコ寺院とドゥカーレ宮殿。あの歴史的な重厚感と細部までこだわり抜かれた装飾には圧倒されるばかりで、「すごい…」という言葉しか出てこなかった。

それから、今回泊まった宿がまた最高。歴史ある建物をリノベーションしていて、壁や扉の古い質感を活かしながら、中は洗練された住居になっていて居心地抜群。オーナーさんが相当センスの良い方らしく、天井が高い吹き抜けに壁一面の蔵書がずらっと並んでいて、どこを見回しても“センスがいい”の一言。ホテルじゃなかなか味わえない特別感があって、ここに泊まったことで“最高の記憶”になった。

そして今回の旅で改めて感じたのが、チャットGPTの便利さ。たとえば、「どこかおすすめのアートスポットないかな？」とか「この絵ってどういうストーリーがあるの？」なんてことをサクッと聞けば、すぐに的確な情報を教えてくれる。さらに驚くのは、スマホで写真を撮って「これ、なに？」と問いかけても、その場で解説してくれるところ。たとえば、自分が乗る電車のチケットを見せて「今から行きたいんだけど、何時に出ればいい？」とか「一番楽な行き方は？」と聞くと、一瞬で正解を出してくれる。普通ならガイドブックやら検索やらで手間取るけど、それを一気に短縮してくれるから、旅のストレスが圧倒的に減る。もうチャットGPTなしで動くのは考えられないなぁと実感。

もちろん、AIはあくまでツールのひとつだから、旅の感動を生み出すのはあくまでも自分自身。でも、ここまで頼れるパートナーがいると、これまでの行き当たりばったりの旅もさらに充実する。つまり行きたい場所や歴史のバックグラウンドを瞬時に学べるから、結果として旅の満足度は倍増。今回ヴェニスで行った美術館でも、自分では見落としていた背景情報を教えてもらえて、作品を見る楽しみも一気に深まった。

考えてみれば、ドローンやEVが初めて登場したときも「本当に一般化するの？」って疑われていたけど、今やすっかり身近になった。AIも同じで、ここ最近で一気に進歩して、もう私たちの生活にがっつり溶け込んできている。“使えるものは全部使う”がいちばん手っ取り早い、というのは旅でもビジネスでも真理なんだろうなと改めて思う。

そんなわけで、今回のミラノからヴェニスへの旅は、サンマルコ寺院とドゥカーレ宮殿の歴史的空間にどっぷり浸りつつ、リノベ宿で過去と未来を感じ取って、さらにチャットGPTのサポートでこれまでにないほど深い理解や楽しみを得られた、まさに“アップデートされた旅”になった。毎年いろんな国を旅してきたけど、やっぱりAIがあると旅自体の質もガラッと変わる。ネットがあれば旅しなくてもいい、なんてこととは真逆で、AIのおかげでリアルに足を運ぶ価値がますます高まってる気がする。これからも、「先回りはしすぎず、とにかく仕掛ける」をモットーに、どんどん新しい旅やチャレンジに飛び込んでいこうと思う。やっぱり実際に体験、行動してこそ、一番おいしい果実が手に入る？

Today in Venice: Traveling Without ChatGPT Is No Longer an Option! AI Makes Real-World Adventures Even More Fun!

Today, we traveled from Milan to Venice in the morning. I actually backpacked here once back in my student days, but at the time, I just thought of it as “another tourist city.” Once I arrived this time, though, I realized the atmosphere is completely unique and truly spectacular. Since I’m with my daughter on this trip, I decided we should really explore, so the first places we went were St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. The historical grandeur and intricate details were simply overwhelming—there was nothing to say but “Wow…”

On top of that, the place we stayed in was incredible. It’s an old building that’s been renovated, keeping the rustic charm of the walls and doors, but updated inside to be sleek and comfortable. The owner clearly has great taste—there’s a high ceiling with an open atrium, and bookshelves lining the walls. Everywhere you look, you can see a keen sense of style. You don’t often get that level of special atmosphere in a regular hotel, so this stay really created one of those “best memories.”

One thing that totally struck me this trip is how convenient ChatGPT can be. If I want to find an interesting art spot or ask about the story behind a certain painting, I can just fire off a quick question and instantly get solid info. What’s even more impressive is that I can snap a photo on my phone, ask “What is this?” and ChatGPT explains it on the spot. For instance, if I show it my train ticket and ask, “When should I leave if I want to catch this train?” or “What’s the easiest way to get there?” it spits out the exact answers in a flash. Normally, I’d be flipping through guidebooks or searching online, but this shortcuts the whole process. I can’t imagine traveling without ChatGPT anymore.

Of course, AI is just one tool in the box, and it’s ultimately up to us to create meaningful experiences. Still, having such a reliable partner takes a lot of the guesswork out of traveling, and it gives me immediate access to the history and background of the places I visit, which makes the whole experience even more rewarding. In Venice, I went to a few museums where ChatGPT gave me context I never would’ve discovered on my own, making the art so much more enjoyable.

It reminds me of when drones and EVs were first introduced and people questioned whether they’d really catch on—now they’re everywhere. AI is the same; it’s leaped into everyday life at breakneck speed. It’s really driven home the idea that “use whatever’s available” is the quickest way to get anywhere, whether you’re traveling or working.

And so, this journey from Milan to Venice was truly an “updated” kind of trip—exploring the historic majesty of St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace, staying in a beautifully renovated space that blends old and new, and leveraging ChatGPT’s support for deeper insights and added fun. I’ve traveled all over the world for years, but having AI at my side really transforms the experience. Far from making travel unnecessary, I feel like AI actually enhances the value of being there in person. From now on, I plan to keep following my motto of “Don’t overthink it—just make a move,” and dive headfirst into new trips and adventures. After all, it’s only when you experience and act for yourself that you get the sweetest rewards, right?
