Now that I’m back, Katie Ledecky, a competitive swimmer, is amazing!
Growing a little every day” – that’s what Katie Ledecky says is the secret to her strength. She swims twice a day, six days a week, and swims around 14,000 metres in a training session. Listening to her story, you realise that at some point you are cutting corners or making excuses. Ledecky’s life as a competitive swimmer is more than just a sport, it makes you think deeply about how you use your time and energy in life.
Ledecky spends an enormous amount of time training every day and winning on the world stage. Her attitude teaches us that if there’s something you really want to do, you don’t need the excuse of not having enough time to do it. What on earth am I doing?
Keep asking yourself what you need to do now for your future self. This is not only important for those in the world of sport, such as those aiming for the Olympics, but also for us as ordinary people in our lives as a whole. Finding the ‘value’ for yourself and the attitude to pursue it. I feel very strongly that we need to establish that.
