自分が耐えてきた血のにじむような苦しみが顔に出ているようではいけない。僕の顔にはその苦しみが出ていないだろう。ただまだ浅い。もっと哲学的な深さを持ちながら、しかも笑みを含んだ顔にならなければいけない。燃える情熱、へこたれぬ忍耐、人生の苦しみや、悲しみなど、あらゆる感情が網羅され、しかもそれが溶け込んでいった末でも、一見するとまるで苦労知らずで、ノーノーと生きてきたようにならなければならない。

苦労や困難が表に出ているようではダメ。どんな時でも笑顔を絶やさず、全力で生きる姿勢。深い哲学と経験からくる穏やかさと強さ。そんな顔になれたら最高だ。
