I still don’t speak English.
I like to travel around the world. In fact, I have travelled a lot. But I can hardly speak English. I should have studied English in junior high school, high school and university, but I can’t speak English nearly as well as I used to.
Before I went abroad, when I met people from abroad in Japan, I couldn’t speak English because I was worried about grammar and other things, but that changed when I went abroad as a student with a backpack. If I had said to myself “I won’t talk to people until I’ve mastered the grammar”, I wouldn’t have been able to talk and I wouldn’t have been able to get accommodation, so even though my grammar was a mess, I began to speak with the utmost effort to convey my intentions.
As a result, I am now able to communicate wherever I go abroad, but my grammar is still a mess. Recently I’ve been translating my blog every day and thinking I’m learning English, but yesterday I had a conversation about glasses with a foreigner in my shop and it was still a mess.
I can talk to people from all over the world without any resistance, but on the contrary, my language skills are still at that level.
