注意力の争奪戦「アテンションエコノミー」

実際、YouTube、Instagram、ピンタレスト、現在のSNSなどは、ちょっと見ただけで、自分の好みを瞬時に判断。常に好みのコンテンツを表示してくれる。

アルゴリズムがめちゃめちゃ優秀なので、気を抜くとスクリーンの前に簡単に何時間も縛られてしまう。実際自分も、今日noteの記事を読んでいたら、おすすめ、おすすめと読み続け、あっという間に数時間たっていた。

アテンションエコノミー「情報の優劣よりも「人々の関心・注目」という希少性こそが経済的価値を持つ社会」人々の注意や関心といった「注意力」が限られた貴重な資源として捉えられ、その注意力を集めることが経済的価値を生み出すメカニズム。

注意力の争奪戦がプラットフォーム間で激化するにつれ、健全な公共空間を確保することの重要性も唱えられているというけれど、今後はAIの力で、何が最もその人を引きつけるかを、インターネット上のあるあらゆる情報を読み込み瞬時に判断。良くも悪くももっともっと縛られることになるだろう。

The ‘Attention Economy’, a battle for attention
YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest and the latest social networking sites instantly determine your preferences at a glance. They always show you the content you prefer.

The algorithms are so good that, if you’re not careful, you can easily spend hours in front of a screen. In fact, when I was reading an article on my laptop today, I saw one recommendation, several hours had passed.

Attention economy: “A society in which the scarcity of people’s interest and attention, rather than the superiority of information, is of economic value”.

As the battle for attention between platforms intensifies, the importance of ensuring a healthy public space is advocated, but in the future, the power of AI will read all the information available on the internet to instantly determine what attracts people the most. For better or worse, they will be more and more connected.
