「地球を何十周もしていたら飽きないんですか？」

今年の11月の下旬にハワイ島でちょっと長めのウルトラマンというトライアスロンの大会に出る。

ウルトラマンは、距離として長いほうなのだけれど、じつはこのウルトラマン。選手というより、サポーターの方々のほうがすごくて、そもそもサポーターの方々のおかげで成り立つスポーツだ。

ウルトラマン以外で、自分がサポーターの方々のおかげでゴールされてもらったものとしてゴビ砂漠マラソンなど、色々なものがあるけれど、やはり今までで一番はエベレスト。まさにエベレスト登頂は、サポーターの方あってこそ。

師匠の倉岡さん、シェルパさん、料理スタッフの方々、もうサポーターの力なしじゃまず何も成し得ない。

今回のウルトラマンも大会に出るのは自分だけれど、すべてサポーターさんにお導きあってこそ。

地球を何十周もしている方に問いかけたことがある

「地球を何十周もしていたら飽きないんですか？刺激がなくなり、マンネリ化しないんですか？」

その問いに対する答えが

「目的は場所じゃなく人だから。何回行っても飽きることはない」

ああ、なんというお言葉。お聞きした時、ものすごく衝撃を受けたのだけれど、またこのことを忘れていた。

そう、やはり人生、人間関係あってこそ。

Don’t you ever get tired of going round the world a dozen times?

At the end of November this year, I will be competing in a slightly longer triathlon called Ultraman on the Big Island of Hawaii.

I am the one who will be competing in the Ultraman this time, but it was all thanks to the guidance of my supporters.

like the Gobi Desert Marathon, where I was able to finish thanks to my supporters, Climbing Everest was made possible by my supporters. Without the help of my mentor, Mr Kuraoka, the Sherpas, the culinary staff and all the other supporters, nothing would be possible.

I once asked a person who had circumnavigated the globe dozens of times

Don’t you get bored after circumnavigating the globe dozens of times? Don’t you ever get bored, uninspired, stuck in a rut?”

The answer to this question was.

It’s not the place, it’s the people. No matter how many times you go, you never get bored.

I was extremely shocked, but then I forgot about it.

Yes, life is all about relationships.
