お金という名の数字

最近はもう本当に現金を使わない。財布も一切持ち歩かない。クレジットカードすら持ち歩かない。そういう生活で困ることといえば、自転車置き場で100円玉がなく困るぐらいで、それ以外は本当にまったく困らない。

先日、娘たちがAmazonギフトカードをもらってきた。ギフトカードといっても、コンビニで売っているようなものではなく、ギフトカード番号が書いてある封筒だけ。それを登録するとすぐアマゾンで使える。

妻とのやりとりも最近は、ほぼペイペイ。履歴がすべて残ってしまうけれど、自分にとってはまったく問題ない。この社会に共有されているお金という名の数字。この感じで仮想現実との境もなくなっていくのかもしれない。本当に不思議だ。

I don’t really use cash anymore. I don’t even carry a credit card. The only problem is that I have trouble finding 100-yen coins in the cycle park, but other than that I really don’t have any problems.

The other day my daughters got Amazon gift cards. The gift card is just an envelope with a gift card number on it. Once you register it, you can use it on Amazon.

Most of my interactions with my wife these days are also via PayPay. All the history is kept, but it’s not a problem for me at all.

A number in the name of money that is shared in this society. Perhaps the boundary between this feeling and virtual reality will disappear.
