一番最初にはじめたから上手くいくとは限らない

誠眼鏡をはじめて15年。世界中から変わった眼鏡も仕入れているけれど、一番の特徴としては、コレクターの方々から眼鏡をお買取させていただく点だ。この15年で、その後２社ほどリユースに入ってきたけれど、今専門でやっているところはいない。

リユースを初めて数年後、２番目、３番目に始めたところが、元祖と平気で歌っていて「それはない！」と気にしていた時もあるけれど、一番最初にその業態をはじめたからといって、そのお店がうまくいくとは限らない。

今は本当に様々なサービスがあるし、物に関してだけいえば、どこでも買える。このご時世、表面的に真似されても、おそらく大切なのは思想や世界観。そして自分が本当は面白いと思ってないことはすぐバレる時代。コツコツ、コツコツ、地味に自分が本当に面白いと思うものを発信し続ける。

みなさまに変わらず楽しんでいただけるように。現在は、表面的なことは本当に通用しない時代だ。

Just because you started first doesn’t mean you’ll do well.
I have been an optician for 15 years. Our main speciality is buying glasses from collectors. In the last 15 years, two companies have got into the recycling glasses business, but nobody specialises in it now.

A couple of years after I started in the reuse glasses business, the second and third company that came in said they were the originators. There were times when I was worried, but just because you’re the first to start this type of business doesn’t mean your business is going to do well.

There are so many different services available nowadays, and as far as goods are concerned, you can buy them anywhere. In this day and age, even if they are superficially imitating you, what is probably important is your ideology and your world view. And we live in an age where it is easy to find out that you are not really interesting. I will continue to send out what I really think is interesting, steadily, consistently and soberly.

I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do. Superficiality really doesn’t work these days.
