単にお金をあげるだけでは人々は充実した人生を送れない
今読んでいるメルマガで一番面白いのが、マイクロソフトでwindows95などを手掛けた中島聡さんのメルマガ。
そんな中島聡さんのメルマガに以下の内容があった

人工知能とロボットの進歩により、人間にしか出来ない仕事が急速に減って行く世の中で、「どうやって食い扶持を稼ぐのか」もしくは、もっと突き詰めて「何を生きがいとして生きていけば良いのか」が、社会全体を安定させるためにとても重要なトピックになると私は考えています。
その中で「稼げなくても良いから公に貢献する仕事をする」ことにより、（たとえ、社会保障により支えてもらう必要があったとしても）充実した人生を送る、という生き方が重要になるのだろうとは考えています。
別の言い方をすれば、「AIによって国民の大半が失業するような時代」には、ベーシックインカムなどの社会保障システムが必須だけれども、単にお金をあげるだけでは人々は充実した人生を送れないので、「公に貢献する仕事（もしくは、公に貢献していると感じられる仕事）」を与えることにより、彼らに「生きがい」を与え、社会を安定させる必要がある、という話です。

一般的に親は子供が大人になった際に、衣食住に困らないようにとレールを敷く。
ただ生きるということに問題がなくなっても、充実した人生が送れるわけじゃない。お金にこまらなくても、幸せかというとそうではない可能性もある。
子供には幸せになってほしいというのが、最終到達地点であるならば、そもそも、幸せの定義自体をしっかりと考えなくてはならないなと改めて思った。

Simply giving money away is not enough to give people a fulfilling life.
One of the most interesting newsletters I’m reading is from Satoshi Nakajima, who worked on Windows 95 and other products at Microsoft.
Satoshi Nakajima’s newsletter has the following content

In a world where the number of jobs that only humans can do is rapidly decreasing due to advances in artificial intelligence and robots, I believe that “how to make a living”, or more precisely “what is the purpose of living”, will become a very important issue for stabilising society as a whole.
In this context, I think it will be important to live a fulfilling life by “doing work that contributes to the common good, even if you don’t need to earn money” (even if you need to be supported by social security).
In other words, in an “era when the majority of the population will be unemployed due to AI”, a social security system such as a basic income is essential, but people will not be able to live fulfilling lives just by giving them money, so we need to give them “work that contributes to the public good (or work that makes them feel that they are contributing to the public good)”. It is therefore necessary to give them a ‘purpose in life’ and to stabilise society by providing them with ‘jobs that contribute to the public good (or jobs that make them feel that they are contributing to the public good)’.

In general, parents rail against their children becoming adults so that they do not have to worry about food, clothing and shelter.
Even if they no longer have problems just getting by, this does not mean that they can live a fulfilled life. Even if you don’t have to worry about money, you may not be happy.
If the ultimate goal is for your children to be happy, then you need to think carefully about the definition of happiness, I thought again.
