都会のビルにもまた！9月、スズメバチの季節。
現在住んでいる場所はマンション。緑豊かな野山の中に住んでいるわけでもない。
マンションであり、さらに30階という高層階。普通の虫はいない。スズメバチだけは別で、ぶんぶん、外を飛んでて、下手したら家の中にも入ってくる。
その時期も毎回9月。スズメバチの習性として、8月下旬から10月上旬にかけて新しく誕生した女王蜂を守るため活性化するらしい。
ちなみに、都会のビルの場合は、雨戸と窓ガラスの間など巣が作られることが多いとのこと。
スズメバチの巣は、毎年１回きりの使い切りで同じスズメバチが古い巣を使うことはないらしいのだけれど、巣を作ったということは、そこが巣に適しているからで、毎年のように新しい巣を作るという。
さらには古い巣は、同じスズメバチが翌年も使うことはないらしいが、まったく別の他のスズメバチが再利用することもあるらしい。中古住宅のように、そのまま他の集団がそっくりそのまま再利用することも多々あるとか。
うちは子供がいるから、いつもやっきになって、この季節は家の周辺で暴れてくる子は退治しているのだけれど、巣がどこにあるかわからなく、大元がまったく断ててないので、エンドレスで来る。
もちろん、ビルの管理会社に言って、調べてもらっているのだけれど、毎年巣が見当たらず、いつも空振り。
ちなみにスズメバチの針は、6mmほどと長く、普通の服を着ていても貫通するという。
都会では、ドローン飛ばしちゃいけないけれど、常に30階より上、屋上の方からくるので、本当今度、ドローン申請して、許可おりたら、本当について行って見ようかと思っている。
とにかく、また来た。スズメバチの季節。

Again in an urban building! September, wasp season.
I live in an apartment building. I do not live in a lush green field.
It is on a higher floor, the 30th floor. There are no insects. Wasps are the only exception. They fly around outside, and they come inside the house.
The wasp’s habit is to become active from late August to early October to protect the newly born queen bee.
Incidentally, in urban buildings, wasps often build their nests between storm shutters and windowpanes.
Wasp nests are used only once each year, and the same wasp never uses an old nest, but wasp has built a nest near every year.
Furthermore, it is said that the same wasp will not use an old nest the following year, but it may be reused by a completely different wasp species.
We have children, so we are always very diligent in eliminating the wasps that come rampaging around our house during this season, but since we don’t know where the nests are and the main source has not been completely eliminated, they keep coming back endlessly.
Of course, I have told the building management company to check, but they always come up empty because they can’t find the nest every year.
By the way, wasps have long stinger (about 6 mm) and can penetrate even ordinary clothes.
I know you are not allowed to fly a drone in the city, but they always come from the rooftops above the 30th floor, so I am thinking of applying for a drone next time, and if I get permission, I might actually go up there and attack them.
Anyway, here they come again. Wasp season.
