外温ー６度、水温０度の湖のIce Kilometers

ウルトラマンカナダの後、やはり海峡横断もしたい！と思い直し、あらためて、実際に海峡横断をされている方がいないかと尋ねたら、先日一緒にウルトラマンカナダに出ていた方が海峡横断もしていたという情報を教えていただいた。

その方のプロフィールを拝見すると、やばい。海峡横断以外に、外温ー６度、水温０度の湖もウェットもなしで泳ぐというIce Kilometersのようなものもされている方だった。

さっそく、そちらの方に「先日ご一緒にウルトラマンに参加していたものです。じつは私も海峡横断をぜひしたいと思っているのですが、どのような練習方法をされているのでしょうか。距離は勿論ですが、水温が心配です。あなたは、外温ー６度、水温０度の湖などのIce Kilometersも完泳されています。どのようなトレーニングをされているのでしょうか」と質問を送ったところ、すぐご返信いただいた。

アイスマンことWim Hofさんの「The Wim Hof Method」こちらの本を読んで、毎日エクササイズをしたほうが良いということだった。

アイスマンさんといえば、エベレストに自分がチャレンジしている時に、裸でエベレスト登られた方がいると聞き、その時は、ただ世界には本当に恐ろしい超人がいるものだと驚愕した方だ。

その時はただの稀にいる超人の方かと思っていたのだけれど、アイスマンさんのメソッドは、一般人にも落とし込めるように、もうしっかりと体系づけられた理論になっていたとは！

とにかく、英語の本なので、時間はかかると思うけれど、さっそくすべて読んでみよう「The Wim Hof Method」！！

After Ultraman Canada, I still want to do a strait crossing! I looked again, and found that a person who had recently participated in Ultraman Canada had already completed the channel crossing.

When I looked at his profile, I was amazed. He had also done Ice Kilometers, where he swam in a lake with an outside temperature of -6 degrees Celsius and a water temperature of 0 degrees Celsius, without any wetsuit.

I immediately asked him, “I was a participant of Ultraman with you the other day. I would like to do the Channel Crossing, but what kind of training do you do? I am worried about the water temperature, not to mention the distance. You have completed Ice Kilometers . What kind of training do you do?

He said that I should read “The Wim Hof Method” by Wim Hof, the Iceman, and do exercises every day.

Mr. Iceman is the one who, when I was challenging myself on Everest, heard that someone had climbed Everest naked, and at the time I was just astonished that there are truly terrifying superhumans in the world.

At the time I thought it was just a rare superhuman, but I didn’t realize that Mr. Iceman’s method was already a well-structured theory that could be put down to the average person!
