国際便、預け入れ荷物の紛失補償は20万まで
今回カナダの帰りの便で、一緒に積んだはずの自転車がなかった。ちなみに、今回、幸い手荷物のロストではなく、遅延だったのでよかったのだけれど、預け入れ手荷物って、できるだけしないほうが良いと初めて知った。
今まで自分の旅行スタイルは、手荷物のみの移動だったので、まったく気にしてなかったのだけれど、預け入れ荷物って、航空会社の完全にミスで紛失しても全額は補償されないということなのだ。
なお航空会社からの荷物への補償、日本で発見された航空券の場合は、20万ほど。カナダ発着の航空便のロストバッゲージには、2100ドルほどを限度に支払うということ。つまり、100万円の何かを預け入れて、紛失したら20万ぐらいしか戻ってこないということ。これってなかなか。
海外旅行傷害保険には、携帯品損害賠償特約があるけれど、これも通常の保険だと限度があって、だいたい30万、高くても50万ほどまで。なので、やっぱりこれでも補償されない。
ちなみに、今回自分の自転車はロストではなく、遅延だったのでよかったのだけれど、実際に自転車が手元に到着したのは、3日後。
翌日から自転車を使う予定だったので、スケジュールを3日ほどリスケしたのだけれど、航空会社からは、遅延の場合は、基本保証はなし。海外旅行傷害保険の遅延特約があったけれど、補償されるのは、スーツケースなどのみで、その間に必要にせまられて購入した日常品などの代金の保証だけとのこと、さらに補償金額は10万円まで。
では、海外へ100万クラスのものを送るにはどうするのだろと、そのあたりを調べてみるとBIKEFLIGHTやUPS、Fedexあたりが見つかった。バイクフライトの場合、プレミアム補償をつければ、$20,000、300万近くまで補償されるということ。
ということで、保証範囲外の自転車を送るときは、BIKEFLIGHTやUPS、Fedexあたりも考慮。20万円以上のものは、基本手荷物。それが良いのかもしれない。

International Flights, Lost Baggage Coverage Up to 200,000
On my return flight to Canada this time, my bicycle was not found. By the way, I am glad that it was a delay and not lost baggage, but I learned that it is better not to have checked baggage as much as possible.
I had never paid any attention to checked baggage because my style of travel had been to travel only with hand luggage, but it turns out that checked baggage is not fully compensated even if it is lost due to the airline’s complete mistake.
The compensation for baggage from the airline, in the case of airline tickets found in Japan, is about 200,000 yen. For lost baggage on flights to and from Canada, the airline will pay up to about $2,100. In other words, if you check in something worth 1 million yen and it gets lost, you will only get back about 200,000 yen. This is not so easy.
Travel abroad insurance has a clause for damage to personal belongings, but this too has a limit of 300,000 yen or 500,000 yen at the most. So, even with this clause, I was not compensated.
By the way, I was lucky that my bicycle was not lost but delayed, but it actually arrived three days later.
I was going to use the bike from the next day, so I had to reschedule my schedule by 3 days. The airline airline makes no guarantees whatsoever. There is a delay rider on overseas travel insurance, but this only covers daily necessities. and only up to 100,000 yen.
So, how do you send a million-class item overseas? In the case of BIKEFLIGHT, if you add premium coverage, you are covered up to $20,000, or nearly 3 million yen.
So, if you are sending a really high-end bike, you should use BIKEFLIGHT, UPS, or Fedex. Also, for items over $200,000, basic baggage. That may be the basic way.
