健康に害をなすという嗜好品、アルコールやたばこなどの嗜好品には税金が別途課税されている。それを糖分過剰摂取で健康に害をなす嗜好品、砂糖にも適用しようというもの。

2016年にWHO（世界保健機関）が世界に導入をもとめ、現在、マレーシアやフィリピン、アメリカの一部などで導入されているという。

自分は知らなかったのだけれど、じつは日本は、以前、砂糖消費税として間接税として徴収されていたことがあり、1989年に廃止されたという。

砂糖に関して現状、最近やっと色々なところで、少しずつ糖質を抑えたロカボ商品が出てきているけれど、まだまだ圧倒的に少ない。そもそも、食品の品質表示にも糖分がどのくらい入っているか書いてないものも多いので、せめて糖分を書くことをすべて必須にしてほしい。

砂糖税、糖分を日々コントロールしようとしている自分としては、ぜひぜひ導入してほしい。

Improving awareness of excessive sugar consumption, sugar tax.

Alcohol and tobacco have long been taxed as health hazards. The idea is to apply the same taxation to sugar, which is harmful to health due to excessive sugar intake.

In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) called for the introduction of a global sugar tax, which has now been introduced in Malaysia, the Philippines, and parts of the United States.

Although I was unaware of it, Japan used to levy a tax on sugar consumption as an indirect tax, which was abolished in 1989.

Recently, locavore products with reduced sugar content have started to appear in various places, but they are still overwhelmingly few in number.Furthermore, many food quality labels do not indicate how much sugar is in the product, so at least make it mandatory for all to write sugar content.

As someone who tries to control sugar on a daily basis, I would very much like to see the introduction of a sugar tax.
