DeepL翻訳やグーグル翻訳を神様のように思い、最近は完全に依存していたのだけれど、つい先日海外の方から、グーグル翻訳で英語から日本語に翻訳された文章が送られてきた際に、まったく意味がわからなかった。

ものすごくマイナーな言語などではなく、現在の事実上の国際共通語でもある英語を日本語に訳して送っていただいただけなのに、まるで意味がわからない。

ということは、逆もまったく同じはず。

自分も同じようにグーグル翻訳で訳して、メッセージを送っていたので、相手にはまったく通じてなかったわけだ。実際に何度か、まったく意味がわからないと、海外の友人から連絡をもらい、現在は、間に英語のできる友人に翻訳に入ってもらったら、意志の伝達が見違えるように良くなった。

もう英語は勉強しなくてよいじゃんと思っていたけれど、まだまだか。

このブログ自体も英語の勉強のため、グーグル翻訳などを使いながら、英文も載せているけれど、じつはこれも読むに堪えない破茶滅茶な英語の可能性は高い。やっぱり英語はしっかり勉強しないとだ。

Is Google’s translation still inaccurate? I need to learn English well.

Recently, I have been relying on DeepL translation and Google Translate for English, but the other day, when I received a Japanese text translated by Google Translate from a foreign friend, I could not understand the meaning at all.

I had just received a Japanese translation of an English text, but I could not understand the meaning at all.

So, the reverse is exactly the same.

I translated the text with Google Translate and sent the message, so the recipient did not understand it at all. After several times of being contacted by my friends from overseas who could not understand the meaning at all, I asked a friend who can speak English to translate the message for me, and now the communication is much better.

I thought I didn’t need to study English anymore, but I still need to study English.

This blog itself is also written in English, using Google Translate and other tools to study English, but there is a high possibility that the English is so absurd that it is unreadable. I still need to study English hard.
