Game Regulations”

2022.5.16

“Game Regulations” and ” banning tutoring and homework regulations”

My 3 daughters love to play games. But in our house, we have a game rule of 2 hours a day. And basically, the only time they are allowed to play games is when they have finished everything they have to do for the day.

The kids sometimes get mad at my wife for playing games all the time, even though they haven’t done their homework.

When I was a child, there were no such rules regarding game time limits, and when a new game came out, I used to play it for eight hours or more through the night.

However, playing games all the time did not make me stupid, addicted, or anything like that. I used to be crazy about games, but now I don’t play them at all. So, I don’t need a time limit for games. If you want to play, you can play as long as you want.

Well, I would never tell my wife about this because it would cause another fight if I told her.

As for time limits on video games, our neighbor, China, is in a terrible situation.

The government has set a national limit of up to three hours per week for online gaming for those under the age of 18, but three hours per week is nothing compared to the amount of time that can be spent playing games.

The regulation was enacted to protect young people, but this policy is the exact opposite of the current trend of e-sports and metaverse, metaverse, metaverse.

Some players are using their family members’ ID cards to enjoy games for more than three hours, but will this policy prove to be a good thing?

Note that since the regulation, more than 10,000 game companies have gone bankrupt in China due to the lack of approval for new online games. This is a regulation that would be unthinkable outside of China.

This is also said to be aimed at “reducing homework for elementary and junior high school students, easing the burden of out-of-school education, and making it easier to raise children,” but naturally, various opposing opinions are flying around.

”If tutoring schools are to be banned, tests should be eliminated and entrance examinations for high schools and universities should also be eliminated. It is too one-sided to blame only gakushu-juku without fundamentally reviewing the strict entrance examinations.”

A Society with More Academic Credentials than in Japan
In China, “entering a university” is a “passport to brain labor.” What is the meaning of the “tutoring school ban” without changing the nature of the society itself?

It is said that many cram schools went out of business under this policy as well.

If my child were to hear this, she might jump up and down with joy. But what is the real goal of the Chinese government?

Do they want to prevent the increase in the number of college-educated white-collar workers and the decrease in the number of workers engaged in some simple tasks?

“Game Regulations” and ” banning tutoring and homework regulations” , Chinese policies that are completely incomprehensible to an average person like myself.
