日本はオワコン？Japan has no future?

日本はこれからオワコン？　最近、そんな話題をチラチラ耳にする。

GDPでいうと日本はアメリカ、中国に続いて2021年時点で世界第3位。現時点では一人あたりのGDPにすると28位ぐらいに下がってしまうとはいえ、豊かな国だ。

ちなみにロンドンのプライスウォーターが2017年発表した2050年のGDP予測によると、上位から中国、インド、アメリカ、インドネシア、ブラジル、ロシア、メキシコ、日本となっている。

どのような優秀な専門家でも、今まで未来を正確に予測できたものはいないというのが歴史の定説。

インドネシアで2年ほど働いた実感や、大学時代インド哲学科でインドを旅した自分の印象としては、人口が多い国＝豊かな国というシンプルな構造には、文化の違いなどもあるので、ならないような気はするけれど、それでもやけに現実感を感じる2050年GDP予測。

Japan has no future?　Recently, I have been hearing such talk.

In 2021, Japan’s GDP was the third largest in the world after the United States and China. Japan is still a rich country, even though it drops to 28th in the world when compared in terms of GDP per capita.

Incidentally, according to the GDP forecast for 2050 published by Pricewater in London in 2017, the top countries are China, India, the US, Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, and Japan.

Even the best experts cannot accurately predict the future until now. This has been proven by history up to now.

Having worked in Indonesia for two years and traveled to India as a university student in the Indian Philosophy Department, my impression is that it is not a simple structure where a country with a large population = a rich country. However, the GDP forecast for 2050 gives me a sense of reality.
