田中角栄さんの言葉に、こんなものがある。

「準備は、才能に変わる唯一の武器」
「準備は努力のなかで、もっとも裏切らない投資」

強烈な言葉だ。

田中角栄さんは、政治家として“天才”と呼ばれながらも、
毎晩遅くまで資料を読み込み、
相手の弱点も強みも、家族構成まですべて頭に叩き込んでいたと言われている。

さらに角栄さんはこうも言う。
「天才とは、努力を続けられる人のことだ」

才能がないことを嘆くより、準備をしている人は強い。
そして準備というのは、シンプルなのに、続けるのは難しい。

才能には、生まれつきの差がある。
でも、準備は誰にでもできる。
そこにこそ「平等」がある。

小さな下準備の積み重ねが、不思議と効いてくる。
準備は、裏切らない。

準備とは、未来の自分への“仕送り”みたいなものだ。
今日の数分が、明日の自分を助けてくれる。
今日の小さな投資が、1か月後の「力量」になる。

誠眼鏡店も同じだ。

17年続けてきて、1日にやっていることは特別ではない。
でも、店頭に出す前の商品の下準備、
撮影、ウェブ掲載、
そしてご来店いただいたお客様の写真を丁寧にアップしつづけること。

この積み重ねが、いつの間にか大きな財産になっている。

「毎日の準備」が蓄積して、店の力になる。
それは、一朝一夕では手に入らない。

そして不思議なことに、準備を続けていると、
周りからは「才能がある人」に見えてくる。
まるで準備そのものが、才能に変わっていくようだ。

準備という、地味で確実な武器。
凡人が天才に見える、唯一の方法。

角栄さんが言っていたように、
準備は努力の中で、もっとも裏切らない投資なのかもしれない。

Preparation: The Most Reliable Investment of Effort

There’s a famous line by Japanese statesman Kakuei Tanaka:

“Preparation is the only weapon that can turn into talent.”
“Preparation is the most reliable investment among all forms of effort.”

It’s a powerful idea.

Tanaka was called a political genius, yet he was known for studying late into the night—
reading documents, learning people’s strengths and weaknesses,
and even memorizing their family backgrounds.

He also said:

“A genius is simply someone who can keep making effort.”

Instead of worrying about not having talent,
the person who keeps preparing is ultimately the stronger one.

And preparation, though simple, is surprisingly hard to maintain.

Talent has differences we cannot control.
But preparation is available to everyone.
That’s where true “equality” exists.

Small amounts of preparation accumulate in quiet ways.
Preparation does not betray you.

It’s like sending a small “remittance” to your future self.
A few minutes today will help you tomorrow.
A tiny investment now becomes real ability a month later.

I feel the same in my eyewear business.

Seventeen years of work—nothing flashy day to day.
But preparing each frame before it goes out,
photographing products, uploading them carefully,
and sharing photos of the customers who visit the store…

These small routines have become a major asset over time.

Daily preparation builds the strength of the shop,
and it’s something that cannot be obtained overnight.

And curiously, if you keep preparing,
people start to see you as someone with “talent.”
It’s as if preparation itself slowly transforms into talent.

Preparation is a modest yet reliable tool—
maybe the only way an ordinary person can appear extraordinary.

Just as Tanaka said,
preparation may really be the most trustworthy investment of effort.
