イタリア最終日。やっぱり定期的に外にでかけよう！

本日イタリア最終日。今回、新たに感動したのが「荷物を預けるサービス」。たとえば、bounceというアプリを使ってみたんだけど、これが本当に便利。ミラノ中央駅のすぐ近くにあるパーキングの事務所で、大きなスーツケースを預かってもらえて身軽になれたのは最高。駅周辺が混雑していても、サクッと身軽になれるし、どうせ必ずパーキングで、スタッフがいる事務所で使われていないスペースが有効活用されているのも素晴らしい。

今回は、旅の計画にチャットGPTをフル活用したんだけど、じつは数回まったく見当違いの情報を教えられることがあった。具体的には、免税手続きの詳細、ミラノ中央駅の正確な出発ホーム、バチカンの入り口など、正直言ってまったく的外れな情報を何度か教えてくれた。とはいえ、いつもどおり、現地の方に直接聞けば、すぐ解決してぜんぜん問題なかったんだけど、今のところ、95％くらいの精度かな。ただ、これも数ヶ月後にはまた全然違う精度に進化しているだろう。なので「使えるところはどんどん使ってみる」姿勢がやっぱり一番。チャットGPTだって、タイミングや情報源によっては間違いがあるけれど、試してみて何かおかしいと感じたら、現地の方に確認すればいいだけ。やっぱり、新たなものはどんどん試す。すると、結果的に自分の日々の仕事にも生きるし、気付きがでてくる。

bounceのような新しいサービスとチャットGPTなどのAI、それに現地の人とのコミュニケーションをミックスしてみると、旅先での楽しみ方の選択肢が圧倒的に増える。なにか困ったら別の手段を試せばいいだけだし、うまくいったらさらに活用してみる。その積み重ねが、自分だけの新しいスタイルをどんどん育ててくれる。

旅であれ、仕事であれ、人生全般であれ、結局は「まず試す」、「周りを巻き込む」、「うまくいったら次に進む」の繰り返し。今回のイタリア旅行では、そうやって新しい経験を積み重ねることがいかに大切かを改めて思い知らされた。結局のところ、実際に行動を起こした人が一番多くを学ぶ。だから、やはり、定期的に外に出かけよう！

I’m currently in Italy, and one thing that really impressed me this time was the “luggage storage service.” For example, I tried using an app called bounce, and it turned out to be incredibly convenient. There’s a parking office right near Milan’s Central Station where I was able to leave my bag, and it made traveling around so much easier. Even if the area around the station is crowded, you can just drop off your bags and head out. Plus, it’s great that they can make use of otherwise unused space—after all, there’s always a staffed office at parking facilities.

I also used ChatGPT to plan parts of this trip, but I’ll admit it gave me completely off-base information a few times—like details about tax-free procedures, the exact departure platforms at Milan Central Station, and even the entrance to the Vatican. Still, once I asked locals in person, everything got sorted out right away, so it wasn’t a big deal. Right now, I’d say it’s about 95% accurate. But I’m sure in a few months, the technology will have evolved even further. That’s why I think “use it wherever you can” is the best approach. ChatGPT might not always be perfect because it depends on timing and sources, but if something seems off, just confirm it with a real person. Trying out new tools often leads to insights that spill over into everyday work and spark fresh ideas.

If you blend new services like bounce with AI tools such as ChatGPT, plus some good old-fashioned conversation with local people, your travel experience opens up to a whole new range of possibilities. If one approach doesn’t work, just switch to another, and if you find something that works great, use it even more. Little by little, you’ll develop your own unique style.

In the end, whether it’s travel, work, or life in general, it’s all about “trying first,” “bringing others on board,” and “moving on if it succeeds.” This Italy trip reminded me how exciting and rewarding it is to stack up new experiences that way. After all, those who actually take action learn the most. So, it’s a good idea to get out there on a regular basis.
