Polaris Dawn。SpaceXの宇宙ミッションの一つで、民間の宇宙飛行士による壮大なチャレンジ。SpaceXによる壮大な民間宇宙飛行ミッションで、4人のクルーが地球を飛び出し、前例のない挑戦に再び挑む。
ミッションを率いるのは、億万長者、起業家、慈善家、冒険家のジャレッド・アイザックマン氏。アイザックマン氏はわずか16歳で高校を中退し、自身の会社Shift4 Paymentsを設立。彼はまた、戦闘機を操縦する技術を持つ熟練のパイロットでもある。世界最速飛行の世界記録も樹立した、まさにスーパーマン。
アイザックマン氏が最初に世界の注目を集めたのは、2021年のInspiration4ミッションだった。これはアイザックマン氏が率いる民間人だけで構成された初の宇宙飛行。クルーは地球を数日間周回し、宇宙で生活しながら、聖ジュード小児研究病院のために2億ドル以上を集めた。このミッションがアイザックマン氏の実力を浮き彫りにした。

Polaris Dawnのミッションの展開を見ていると、自分も宇宙へ行きたいという気持ちが高まってくる。アイザックマン氏と彼のクルーが宇宙に飛び立つのを見るのは、夢が現実になるのを見るようなものだ。自分自身の夢リストには、「火星に行く」、「オリンポス火山に登る 」などがある。これらは自分にとって単なる空想ではなく、着実に取り組んでいこうと決意した自分の生涯の人生目標。正直、日々で考えると目立った進展はなく焦るけれど、火星に到達する前に、エベレストを含む7大陸の最高峰に登頂し、ウルトラレースに出場するなど、地球上で経験できることはすべて経験しようと思っている。
Polaris Dawnのミッションを見て感じるのは、本当に宇宙がどんどん身近になっていること。自分は学生時代バックパックを担いで地球を旅していたけれど、次の世代は宇宙という未知のフロンティアに挑戦する時代が来るのかもしれない。まだ宇宙旅行が簡単にできる時代ではないかもしれないが、人類にとって次の大きな飛躍が宇宙であることは明らかだ。
Polaris Dawnのクルーは、宇宙での孤独と、地球を振り返る畏敬の念を経験することになるはずだ。それはどんな感覚なのだろう？ 想像するだけで胸が高鳴る。いつか自分の目でその景色を見てみたい。何があっても、私は火星に行く夢をあきらめない。。自分も、いつかその景色を自分の目で見たい。やはり、どんなことがあっても、火星に行くことを絶対に諦めないようにしよう！

Wow! Jared Isaacman and His Amazing Polaris Dawn Mission
Polaris Dawn is one of SpaceX’s ambitious space missions, where a crew of civilian astronauts embarks on an extraordinary journey beyond Earth. This grand civilian spaceflight mission will see four crew members leave the planet and take on yet another unprecedented challenge.
Leading the mission is billionaire entrepreneur, philanthropist, and adventurer Jared Isaacman. At just 16 years old, Isaacman dropped out of high school to start his own company, Shift4 Payments. He’s also an experienced pilot with the skills to fly fighter jets and has set a world record for the fastest around-the-world flight—a true Superman.

Watching Polaris Dawn unfold makes my desire to go to space even stronger. Seeing Isaacman and his crew launch into space feels like witnessing dreams come true. On my own dream list, I’ve written down “go to Mars” and “climb Olympus Mons.” These aren’t just fantasies—they’re lifelong goals I’ve committed to achieving. Honestly, I sometimes feel like progress is slow, but before I get to Mars, I’ve decided to experience everything Earth has to offer. I’ve summited the highest peaks on all seven continents, including Everest, and competed in ultramarathons to prepare for what lies ahead.
What strikes me most about Polaris Dawn is how close space is becoming to all of us. Back in my student days, I traveled the world with a backpack, but now the next generation may be embarking on adventures into the unexplored frontier of space. While space travel isn’t easy yet, it’s clear that humanity’s next giant leap is into the cosmos.
The Polaris Dawn crew will experience the solitude of space and the awe of looking back at Earth. What must that feel like? Just imagining it makes my heart race. One day, I want to see that view with my own eyes. No matter what happens, I will never give up on my dream of going to Mars. I will make it happen!
