Sea nomads ‘bajo’
I read an article about people known as ‘bajo’, sea nomads.
The Bajo are a group of sea nomads who live in the coastal areas of Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia. Also known as ‘sea nomads’ or ‘sea gypsies’, their homes are on boats and they live by catching fish, shellfish and crabs as they move around the sea.
The Bajo way of life is characterised by a symbiotic relationship with nature. Life on a houseboat is very simple. They live according to the phases of the moon and their events also follow the movement of the moon.
It seems that there are many other ways of life in the world that I am not aware of.
