原理主義者と親と学校の先生と
原理主義者。特定の信念を非常に厳しく守り、変わることを嫌がる人。
学校の先生が「昔ながらの勉強法が一番だ」と信じて、新しい教育方法に対して強く反対することがある。先生が自分の信念を守ろうとする。それは悪くない。ただ、信念を守ることに必死で、変化や異論に対して強く抵抗するのはよくない。そもそも、信念＝存在意義や人生の目的に直結している人に多い。
新しい価値観や異なる意見は、信念を揺るがす可能性がある。今だと、親が「インターネットは危険。YouTubeはバカになる」と信じて、子供に使わせたくないなどなど。新しい技術や情報に対して不安を感じるため、外部からの影響を排除しようとする。
自分もふくめ、多くの親は、過去の伝統や栄光を理想視する。「昔の音楽のほうが素晴らしかった」と考えて、現代の音楽を受け入れない。「昔はよかった」とか言ってしまう人。「TikTokなんかけしからん」とか言ってしまう人。簡単に現代の変化や進歩に対して否定的な態度をとっちゃう人。
自分たちの信念や価値観を大切にするのはいいけれど、あまりにもそれを重要視し、固執するのはよくない。さらに自分たちの意見を守るために他の意見や変化を拒むとか、なおさら。
変化に対する恐れ。自分たちのアイデンティティを守ろうとする強い意識。自分もふくめ、どうしょうもないけれど、成長しつづけるには柔軟であることは最も重要だ。

Fundamentalist. A person who adheres very strictly to certain beliefs and does not want to change.
Teachers may be strongly opposed to new teaching methods and believe that old-fashioned ways of learning are best. Teachers try to defend their beliefs. This is not a bad thing. However, it is not a good thing to strongly resist change and dissent in order to defend one’s beliefs. In the first place, this is often the case for people who directly link beliefs = the meaning of existence and the purpose of life.
New values and different opinions can upset beliefs. Parents today often say that the internet is dangerous, YouTube is stupid and that they don’t want their children to use it, but it’s not a good idea to dismiss it out of hand. Fearing new technology and information and shutting out outside influences is where growth stops.
Many parents, myself included, idealise the traditions and glories of the past. People say things like ‘the old days were better’ or ‘TikTok is rubbish’. People who tend to have a negative attitude towards modern change and progress. People who use this language should be careful. Growth may have come to a halt.
It is good to have your own beliefs and values, but it is not good to stick to them too closely. Even more so for those who reject other opinions and change in order to defend their own.
Fear of change. A strong sense of trying to protect your identity. Being flexible all the time is most necessary for growth.
