苦難にまさる教師なし
謙虚。今まで実際にお会いして、心の底からすごいなと思った方は、皆さま本当に謙虚。大きな器の方ほど謙虚。
なぜあんなにも謙虚なんだろう？と不思議だったのだけれど、大きな器の方は、おそらくそれまで人一倍の苦悩を乗り越えてきたのだろう。
ちなみに、体の至る所に病気を抱えていたベートーヴェン。日記に「勇気を出せ。たとえ肉体に欠点があろうとも、我が魂はこれに打ち勝たねばならない。25歳、そうだ、もう25歳になったのだ。今年こそ、男一匹、本物になる覚悟をせねばならない」25歳の日記がこれだ。なんてこった。
謙虚になることからすべて始まるというのに、ちょっとのことで、イラッとしたり、カッとなってしまう自分は井の中の蛙、本当に情けない。もう45歳になったのだ。今年こそ本物になる覚悟をもせねばならない。苦難にまさる教師なし。

There is no better teacher than hardship.
Humility. The people I have met personally and found to be truly amazing are all truly humble. The greater the capacity, the more humble.
I always wondered why they were so humble, but it seems that people of great capacity have probably overcome more hardship than others. There is no better teacher than hardship. I am miserable when I get irritated or lose my temper over the slightest thing.
