将来に夢が見えなくて普通。しかし、

自分は新潮社の日記「マイブック」を2000年から24年続けているけれど、今年の4月から並行で10年日記もつけることにした。10年日記は毎日１行だけ日記を書いていく。そして１ヶ月ごとに１ヶ月を振り返るページがある。これがとても良い。

マイブックを書いていた時は自分の日記を見返すことなどまずなかったけれど、改めて、自分の１ヶ月を振り返ると、本当に何もしていないときとの差がすごい。1日を結構な割合で垂れ流している。

先日、娘の中学で将来の夢という題でお話させていただいた時に、

「将来に夢が見えなくても普通。やりたいことがわからなくても普通。自分がやっていることの意味を見つけて、今、目の前に集中すればいい」

のようなことを偉そうに言ったけれど、自分の1日を見ると、今の自分の生活、じつは目の前のことにまったく集中できていない。

1日を結構な割合で垂れ流している。それをどうにかするには、普通の日常では無理かもしれない。

I have been keeping a Shinchosha diary ‘My Book’ for 24 years since 2000, but from April this year I decided to keep a 10-year diary in parallel. The 10-year diary is a diary in which I write just one line every day. And each month there is a page to look back on that month. This is very good.

When I was writing My Book, I rarely looked back at my diary, but when I look back at my month, the difference between when I didn’t really do anything and when I did is amazing.

The other day I was speaking at my daughter’s secondary school about dreams for the future,

It’s normal not to see a dream for the future. It’s normal not to know what you want to do. You just have to find the meaning of what you are doing and concentrate on what is in front of you now.

I said something like that, but when I look at my day, I realise that I’m not concentrating on what’s in front of me at all.

I’m letting my day drift by. To deal with that, I might not be able to do that in a normal day.
