インド6日目。カーニャクマリからコバラム。

昨晩からカーニャクマリ。本日は朝一番で、日の出を見に。そして日の出に沐浴をするので、自分たちも沐浴を。昨日の日の入りの時もそうだったけれど、日の出は毎日あるのに、暗いうちから本当にたくさんの人、人、人。1時間ほどたって空は明るくなるも日の出がなかなかない。どこか違う方向にもう太陽のぼっちゃったのかなと思った瞬間にすばらしい日の出。これはすばらしい！！神々しいといっても良いほどの日の出。日の出とともに自分たちも沐浴。ガンジス川は衛生的にちょっとという人も、ここは海だからまったく問題なし。

日の出を見たあと、10kmほど朝ランをし、その後、最南端の街からケララのコバラム、アユールヴェーダの施設へ。昨日は列車だったけれど、今日は時短のため、タクシーで80kmほど。途中ガソリンをいれたのだけれど、10Lで1500ルピー。つまり10Lで1800円。日本より高い。この日ドライバーさんに払ったのが2500ルピー。ガソリンが1500ルピー。ドライバーさんからしたらいつも活動している街から80km離れた地点なので、また80km帰らなくてはいけない。おろしてもらった場所コバラムは、そこまで大きな街じゃないから、帰りにお客様を拾うのも難しそう。インドのタクシーはこれでなりたつのだろうか？

アユールヴェーダのホテルはまるでバリのウブドのような森の中にひっそりと立つ施設で、部屋からの眺めが本当に最高だった。小さなプールもあったので、3000mほど泳ぎ、アユールヴェーダも体験。久々喧騒からまったく遮断されてのとても良いロケーションでの1日。

Kanyakumari since last night. Today I went to watch the sunrise first thing in the morning. About an hour later the sky cleared but the sunrise did not happen. Then we just sat and waited for about 20 minutes more. Beautiful sunrise. A very divine sunrise.This is beautiful! At sunrise I did a Hindu ablution. If you want to experience a Hindu ablution, but the Ganges is not hygienic, this is the sea, so it is very hygienic and recommended.

After watching the sunrise I did a 10km morning run and drove from the southernmost town to Kovalam in Kerala, the centre of Ayurveda. Yesterday we travelled by train, but today we took a taxi for the 80km to save time. On the way we filled up with petrol, which cost Rs 1,500 for 10 litres. In other words, 10 litres cost 1,800 yen. More expensive than in Japan. That day I paid the driver 2,500 rupees, but the petrol was 1,500 rupees. From the driver’s point of view, he was 80 km away from the town where he usually work and had to drive another 80 km to get home. Kovalam, where he dropped me off, is not a big town and it would be difficult to pick up passengers on the way back. Are taxis like this in India? Are they profitable?

The Ayurveda Hotel was set in a forest, like Ubud in Bali, and the view from the room was truly amazing. There was also a small swimming pool, so I swam about 3000 metres. and experience Ayurveda. It had been a long time since I had been away from the hustle and bustle of India.
