じつはものすごい磁力MRI

毎年この時期、定期的に脳と大腸のチェックをしている。

40を超えたら脳と大腸のチェックはしといた方がよいと、一昨年からこの時期に検査を受けている。脳検査で毎回入るMRI、そのMRIの部屋に銃を持って入った男性が入り暴発して亡くなったというニュースを見た。

なんのことか？と思って調べてみるとMRIって、そもそも、ものすごい磁力らしい。

そもそもMRIとは、magnetic resonance imagingの略。日本語だと核磁気共鳴画像法というらしい。強力な磁石と電波を使って、磁場を発生させているトンネル状の装置の中で、FMラジオなどで用いられている周波数の電波を体にあて、体の内部の断面をさまざまな方向から画像にする方法とのこと。

このMRIが、どのくらいの磁力かよくわかる動画がYouTubeにあった。

MRIの前には、すべての金属を必ずはずしてくださいと言われるけれど、確かにこれはすべてを外さないとまずい。この磁力の中に自分は入っていたのか。

I have been having my brain and colon scanned at this time. I saw a news report about a man who entered the MRI room with a gun and died.

What ? I looked it up and found out that an MRI is extremely magnetic to begin with.

First of all, MRI is an abbreviation for magnetic resonance imaging. In Japanese it is called nuclear magnetic resonance imaging. It is a method of imaging a cross-section of the inside of the body from different directions by exposing the body to radio waves of the frequency used in FM radio etc. inside a tunnel-like machine that uses a powerful magnet and radio waves to create a magnetic field.

There is a video on YouTube that gives a good idea of how magnetic this MRI is.

Before the MRI told to remove all metal, but it’s not good if I don’t. Was I in the middle of this magnetic field?
