結婚に向いている人、向いてない人

ひとり時間大好き。未知との遭遇が大好き。そんなタイプは結婚に向いてないらしい。

我が家は6人家族。子供が4人。

先日フランス、スイスに行った時、モンブランが見えて、すごく綺麗だったので、帰国後、やっぱり、モンブランとマッターホルンも登ろうと妻に相談。

すると、勿論、反対された。まあ、当然。

結婚してから、自分だけがやりたいことを常にやってきたからだ。子供ができたあとも、エベレストや南極、アラスカ、カナダの500kmトライアスロン、香港やジャカルタで会社をやらせてもらったり、自分だけ本当にっ好きに行動してきた。

本当にありがたい。ただ、自分が最も人生に喜びを感じるのは、新たな経験、新たな体験をしたとき。経験が解放される時。うわっ！という言葉では表せない一瞬。だから昔からまったく自分の知らない地への海外への一人旅が大好き。自分が育った環境とは全く違う世界、違う常識。

こんな、ひとり時間大好き。未知との遭遇が大好きなタイプはやはり、結婚に向いてないらしい。

とはいえ、4人の子供のパパ。向いている、向いてないなど関係なしに、人間というものの、根本的な喜怒哀楽について翻弄されれる日々。学び、学び、学び。生涯学び。

Who is and isn’t suited to marriage.
Loves solitude. Want to experience the unknown. Apparently such types are not suited to marriage.

I have four children.

When I went to France and Switzerland last week, I saw Mont Blanc and it was so beautiful that I talked to my wife about climbing Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn after I returned home.

Of course, she was against it.

Even after having children, I have been able to do whatever I wanted, including Everest, Antarctica, Alaska, a 500 km triathlon in Canada, and running my own company in Hong Kong and Jakarta.

I’m really grateful. However, I feel the most joy in my life when I have new experiences. When experiences are liberating. That’s why I have always loved travelling alone abroad to places completely unknown to me. A world completely different from the one in which I grew up, a different way of thinking.

I love this kind of alone time. I’ve heard that the type of person who loves to encounter the unknown is not suited to marriage.

However, I am a father of four children. Regardless of whether I’m suited for it or not, Learning, learning, learning. Lifelong learning.
