ノブレス・オブリージュ？ noblesse oblige
ジェフ・ベソスさんは、死後に資産の半分以上を寄付する「ギビングプレッジ」にも署名していないし、慈善活動への寄付額が少ないと長年批判されていた。
一方先日、ウォーレン・バフェット氏は、死ぬまでに「資産99％寄付」計画で先日その半分、つまり資産の半分の寄付を達成したというニュースがあった。
ジェフ・ベソスさんも、20億ドル規模で創設した「ベゾス・デイワン基金（Bezos Day One Fund）」や100億ドルを投じ、気候変動問題に取り組む団体を支援するという「ベゾス・アース基金（Bezos Earth Fund）」の立ち上げよりも、ワーナー・エステートを買ったらそっちのほうが騒がれる。
ノブレス・オブリージュ noblesse oblige「高貴さは義務をともなう」ということか。
