Malam herbam non perire（雑草は滅びない）
うちの眼鏡店は、どの店舗にも植物がたくさんある。そして、店舗植物のメンテにはいつも気を使っている。水が足りないとか、逆に水が多い、根腐れするとかしないとか。
一方、自分が住んでいるビルの３０Fのコンクリートの隙間に、水も栄養も与えられていないのに、ガンガン生えている雑草。年１回などビルのメンテナンスで抜かれても、またすぐに新たな芽を出してくる。天へ天へと大胆に伸びている。
フランス語で、
「雑草はたえず増える（生長する、はびこる）」Malam herbam non perire（雑草は滅びない）
という言葉がある。
自分がしっかり水をあげなきゃと、気を使ってメンテしている店舗の植物。一方、何もケアされなくても天へ天へと大胆に伸びる雑草。
うちのお店はメガネ界の雑草として、自分自身は人類の雑草として、自由に何度でも何度でも、伸び続けていきたいものだなぁ。
